If you just add the velocity stacks to a 2002 and no other mods what effect does that have on the bike? Will it make it run lean?

thanks shane

it will smooth out the powerband from about 3-7k rpm's, and no it does not make the bike run leaner, unlessit's already doing so.

great mod for the moeny, was my first mod.
stock the bike has a bit of a dip in those rpm ranges, the stacks correct it for the most part, and for $100, you can't beat it.

How hard are they to install? Do you need it done professionally?

Very easy. Just lift up the gas tank, open up the air box, take the stock rubber "velocity stacks" off of cylinders 2&3, and put the new ones in. Easy as cake.

It only took me like 5-10 minutes to do, and I'm not that mechanically inclined.

It takes at least 15 minutes...

I went slow when I did mine and it took about 25

alrighty then.......I guess I was doing something wrong cause I was having trouble getting the breather and over-flow hoses off the gas tank. I'll have to give it another shot this weekend.

Well those two hoses are only allowing the tank to come up about 3 or 4 inches. Which is enough to get to the airbox but not really to do much with it. It looks like all of the other hoses have enuff play in them to allow the tank to come up....just not those two. I know they both just run down by the kick stand. Maybe I'll take off the fairings and look to see if they are caught on something or easily moved.

Just take em off, it makes everything easier.

Take them off, but remember where they go.

You have to remove the entire airbox too... in order to get the stock boots out.
