I posted this over at SBN, but they really don't know anything so I'm takin it to the pros. I'm looking to buy a used R1 right now. I have it narrowed down to the '99 and '00 model. I know the R1 recieved a a myriad of changes on '00. I've never ridden them. Can you guys give me a little feedback on the difference? Can you even notice that they're different? I'd like to go with the '99 just to save a little cash, but i'll get the '00 if it's that much better.:)

They're both great bikes. The '00 got a taller first gear which helps the bike accelerate better by delaying when the front wheel comes up, a whole pile of fastener changes that dropped weight by 9 pounds and a air intake on the exaust that added 4 pounds but didn't hurt the power. Cam Journals were fed oil internally on the newer bike to help quiet the motor noise and the standard end can went titanium. The newer bikes gearbox is supposedly a bit stronger and the carbs and EXUP were fine tuned. But both bikes are great and I'd just buy whichever one was the better buy.
