I have a 98 R1 that the previous owner blew the motor and swapped an 01 motor into. I was going through everything a while back and pulled the fuel tank. This was sitting on top of the engine (under the carbs) not attached to anything except the electrical connection. It has 2 slots where some cables should hook to. I disconnected it and everything ran fine but the tach was sporadic. Just curious as to what it's supposed to go to.

Ahhh. That makes sense. Thank you! Yes it has a full hindle exhaust on it. Not knowing what it was concerned me a little haha.
