Im thinkin of taking a Buell for a spin too. Then mock the salesman and say its junk.

Wats the procedure for takin bikes on test rides?

isnt' there only three 04s? Procedure? If you can get them to let you ride one...none at all, just don't mess up the bike. Only problem is...at least around here the laugh if you want to ride one. Buell's still kick some serious tail with the right rider. At least its better than no bike. If it's got two wheels...I give props to the guy on it.

Its already had a small run around QLD raceway.....

here you gotta actually go thru the motions as if you were going to buy it, then you get to ride one, ONLY if its used! Otherwise there are no test rides, I have never heard of ANY dealer letting someone test ride unless its a well-used bike. (read: 1-2 years old and traded-in) I can't imagine any dealer lettin an '04 anything rack up miles from test rides...

I went to Mooroka Yamaha today, they said they are getting two at the end of the month, two next month, two after that, etc... and the first eight are sold! :scared

I asked when they would have a demo available and he said not for a fair while. :cryin

I'm not buying a bike without riding it first.

took me ages to find somewhere that would test ride the 03 under reasonable conditions...

a coupla places wanted me to sign a waiver basically leaving me liable for any damage to the bike, other vehicles, property, people, etc, etc

not such a bad thing if you don't crash, but do you want to be the unlucky asshat who has a moment and crashes?

$19k worth of bike you will be paying off, and that's the nice bit... put yourself or someone else in hospital and the dollars increase very rapidly!

just read and try to understand any disclaimer, waiver or bit of paper they get you to sign before you take the bad boy out for a nang :yesnod

I was given the keys to an 03 and told "Bring her back in a couple of hours.... preferably in one piece."

So I took it up to Nebo/Glorious and gave it a hammering. Brought it back about two hours later. :riding

Gotta be happy with that!

Unfortunately, I think it will be a few months until there is a Demo 04 R1.

All the stealers I have spoken to have pre-sold the first few months worth.

firstly..i just ordered my 04 XB12R BUELL..coming 2nd week april, i am keeping my 00 R1, probably turn it in to a track bike.

sat on a 04 R1....nice
looked at a 1000rr blade....SHIT.
ride my mates thou gixxer..not bad
rode demo ZX-10 on monday 22nd..KICK ASS BIG TIME.
