Obviously the Carb'd bikes aren't gonna be as smooth, but the lag is definately apparent when throttling out of a turn for me.

I'm about to do full exhaust and a jet kit, just curious if that will help smooth out the power a little bit.

Downshift, or don't peg the throttle to the stop at too low an rpm. It will actually accelerate harder if you roll the throttle on rather than pegging it to the stop as hard and fast as you can. Upsets the chassis less too, weight transfer is less and smoother so the tires stay stuck better.

The 2000-2001 carburates very well with a full exhaust (especially the out of production 5 lb full Muzzy Ti, Hindle, or Akropovic 4-1), Ivan's airbix mod, air filter element, stock #130 main jets, Ivan's needles, 3.5 turns out from full in on the mixture screws, and one or two FloCommanders (one for the main air jets, and one for the pilot air jets). You won't find an FI bike any smoother than this. Numerous threads on the above, with pictures, etc).
