You really are doing yourself a disservice. I was like you years ago. I had a speed triple and all I heard was this bike has amazing handling. Not for me, why, it wasn’t set up for me, and my own tinkering made it worse. That’s awesome. Shame about the seat, but there’s nothing duct tape can’t fix.
I’ve never had a bike suspension setup for my weight, or bought aftermarket suspension. I’m really wanting to do it now though, I’ve never heard anyone say anything negative about upgrading/tuning suspension.
I took it to a race shop that charged 50 bucks. 1st thing the guy said to me was, wow, does this move around on you a lot. I was like damn, how did he know. The suspension was way too soft. They set it up, I had NO IDEA what they did, but it was night and day different.
I went from feeling 100% uneasy in turns to literally spinning the rear out of the turn. In an instant I had control, and could predict what the bike was going to do.
Every cycle after that I’ve had it set for my weight. I now do it myself because I know what to do. I’m still not as good with setting the the rebound and compression, but I set the sag myself.
