More opinions guys, please. I need CBR1000 owners for a short review.
I know Your here somewhere.
I have the Silver/Black 1000rr and it is beautiful. I have ridden the '04 R1 as well. To me the R1 needs more grunt throughout the entire midrange--which is where I, as a mere mortal, will ride it on the street and the track (very hard to keep a bike between 9500-13000rpms all the time). The R1 revs faster than the 1000rr (helps to speed the R1 to its powerband).
The extra weight on the 1000rr is a moot point. I do not feel the weight at all; in fact it feels lighter than my 954 with full Arata TI--and more powerful.
The R1 is 17lbs lighter and comes stock with a Titanium or mostly Titanium exhaust. Going to a full Arata TI system on the 600rr saved 14lbs. The 1000rr comes with a stainless steel exhaust. Once the full Arata TI system, PC3usb and map are added, the bike and should experience similar weight savings and about 10rwhp and 4rwtrq.
The Silver and black looks like a solid piece of aluminum--just beautiful, with the bright silver blending with the swingarm and the black of the lower faring a seamless transition.
The seat on the Honda is not as comfortable as the R1-Honda just likes the stiff seats.
Also, on low beam, the Honda has one small center headlight and one big side headlight on, and one side headlight off--I thought I had a light out! On high beam, all lights are on. The R1 is probably still the sexiest looking.
Pegs are also higher on the Honda.
These bikes are all off-the-charts awesome! Just get the one you like best. For my buddy, it was the R1; for me. it was the 1000rr.
