So I'm riding around tonight looking for the hangout for Wednesday night here in Dallas and couldn't find it. Oh well, so I decide to just f**k around north Dallas a little and ride home. Well I get this great idea to blow through the turnpike toll booth at about 170, just for kicks. It's 3 lanes wide, no biggie. Well I'm reaching 160 and my jacket starts shaking around violently, real violently. So bad I had to back off to about 150 to get my vision back. I'm like WTF? I've only had the bike since Jan, so I haven't really tried to top out until tonight. I thought it was a good jacket. It's a Joe Rocket Blaster.

This ever happen to any of you guys? This is really gonna suck if I can't break 160 every now and again.

is it the right size. joe rocket stuff is usual good, it should fit tight around you with maybe an inch clearance in the chest area. if you zip it up and it moves around more than a little bit, it may be too big.

Strange

That's a strange one:confused: I have experienced helmets that get buffeted around badly at high speeds, and God knows that try as you might, even being a small guy with a double bubble screen, there's no getting completely out of the airstream. If your Jacket is lifting up at the waist, or bunching up around your shoulder/neck area, that could do it. I only ride in a one piece racing suit myself, PARTLY having to do with slicing thru the air a little cleaner with less drag = less energy expended. Try another jacket and let us know;)

jacket

It must be the fit on the jacket. Maybe it's too loose. I haven't had problems like that.

Hey Earlthepearl, what are the hang outs in North Dallas? I know about Sat. nights at Whataburger. Any others?

I wear the same jacket. Love it.

However, I had the old style ballistic from JOe Rocket and I wore it all last summer on the 600. Had the same problem with that. See, when the wind goes over your helmet and down your back in your tucked position, it kinda' turns you into an airplane wing. There's low pressure on the top (back side) of your jacket, so it gets sucked off your body and flops real bad.

It sounds like your jacket may be a size too big. I haven't had mine up that fast yet, but my old ballistic did the same thing when I hit 90 mph. I zipped all the vents in it, and it would hold out till' 120 or so.

So yea, that's normal, solution... probably try to trade it for a smaller size?

Thursday's is Sonic on Northwest between Garland Road and Jupiter. People leave from there and go do bad things most of the time....hint hint....

Then there is the Whataburger off of Northwest and 35 on Saturday night.

These two places, even though on the same road, are not that close to each other. A good 20 miles or so between each site. It is a really long way down Northwest to get to 35 from the Sonic.:)

Hey Havoc, sorry I didn't reply sonner...been away from my pc all day.

Tonight the place to be is Sonic on NW highway just off 635. If you know where Fry's is then you know where the Sonic is. Word of caution...roll in there nice and slow, unless you're looking for a ticket, or enjoy running from the cops. Look for me out there. I have a '00 blue R1 with the plate hangin off the stock exhaust. And a Joe Rocket jacket that flops around! :D
