I was hoping graves would run atleast the last half of the season...:(

From AMAsuperbike.com

According to Yamaha factory rider Jamie Hacking, Yamaha won't be racing the Superbike class at all in 2004. Yamaha didn't race the class at all in 2003, but there have been reports that the Yamaha factory were planning to race an R1 Superbike in several rounds this season to prepare for a full season of Superbike racing in '05.

According to Hacking, and other Yamaha sources, it's simply not going to happen. At all.

"There are no plans to run any Superbike races this season as far as I know," Hacking said last week. "With the way the rules are written, none of our guys could run it anyway."

The leading story—or was that simply hope?—was that Yamaha would build an R1-based Superbike by mid-season and enter it in several rounds with former rider Anthony Gobert at the controls. Now that Gobert has been hired by Erion Honda to race the Superstock class on a CBR1000RR, that scenario simply won't happen.

Yamaha won the gold-standard 600 Supersport championship last season, and looks to be the team to beat in both Superstock and Supersport in '04.
