Powdercoating is not an issue, once cured the powder can withstand exhaust canister heat without issues, besides your canister will never reach temps in excess of 450F, for extended duration :thumbup

How about the powdercoated mid pipes? Have you seen that on an 05 R1?
 
hmmm i am about to do this mod myself... going to coat the cans, mid pipe and y pipe plus shave the exhaust shield brackets off

Oh, I would loove to see the before and after pics.
I thought about doing mine myself as SEARS has a powdercoating tool for about $130 I think. Will also need a toaster oven that he heat up to the correct temps and I'm sure a few other items, but not sure what at this time.

dude take it apart yourself and get it powdercoated at the local, it will probably cost the same amount as all the shit you're gonna buy plus it will look a whole lot better... trust me, its something you want to do properly...

I used high engine temp paint on my cans and they turned out great. sorry no pics. though and i think that it cost like $2.25

Yeah I found a local shop that does bike pipes and can powdercoat them with a high temp silicon powder (satin black) or ceramic coat them with satin black ceramic or standard Polished ceramic finish. :cool:


I think the black finish will look hot with the carbon cans....:thumbup
