Rossi is so smooth he hardly ever "looks fast"

well he doesnt look too smooth in this video.

Make no mistake..he's the best rider in the world. I'm sure AMA and WSBK superbike riders may be able to put on a better "show" sliding the R1 and what not because that's what they're used to riding!

never said "show" i said "race" and i never said it would be a sliding competition. i said everybody is all up on his nuts cause he can skid a bike
and back it in.

MotoGP bikes share nothing in common with a streetbike.
already said that.

i suggest you calm down, re-read what i first posted, think about what i said then repost a new comment.

and ill go back and re watch the video to see if i have a new opinion

you suggest I calm down? I never got excited:secret:

Maybe I should also bring up the fact that Rossi has competed on Superbikes (and won). I remember him racing the Suzuka endurance race on the RC51 with Colin Edwards. At the time Colin was currently racing the RC51 in WSBK. Please explain why Rossi immediatly turned faster lap times than Colin! You think AMA and WSBK racers can beat Rossi....I doubt it.

well after replying to my post with comments that really just said what i said but in a different way but somehow, at the same time, making no sense at all cause you totally twisted or misunderstood or whatever, my comments.

so i watched the video again and..... he still looks stiff, uncomfortable and not like rossi in this video. i guess what im trying to say is, just cause valentino rossi rode the 2007 r1, why is everybody all over his nuts? the bike isnt any better just cause he rode it. hes no more amazing in this video then he is on his m1. put any ama superbike or superstock rider on there and they probably would have been able to make a better video cause they understand the bike better. Rossi is great no question. But this video looks like he rode 3 laps just messing around and hung it up. nothing special like everybody is making it out to be

Mike you sound like nothing more than a hater..

My question is what is it so special that YOU can do on a current generation literbike that makes your opinion of his riding in that particular video seem be so boring, uncomfortable and my personal favourite.. hold a second while I laugh again.. "NO CONFIDENCE in the tires"..

You are mearly pulling shyt out your azz to string together and justify comments that you basically pulled.. out your azz.. I guess thats what you get on the internet though.. a bunch of people with a bunch of opinions..

To others who have commented and to Mike the superbike guru. If you watch the first glimpse of the video you get to see two things.

1) That the tires have definitely been broken in well.. edge to edge on the FRONT as a matter of fact.. which shows the bike has been ridden rather hard before hand and the rubber was probably still hot, ready 2 go..

2) The grip pattern on the rear and sidewall lettering on the front shows the tires to be a Michelin Power Race. The same Michelin Power Race (or PR-C) series that are DOT RACE rubber. In other words.. those ARENT street tires on that bike. thats race rubber.. If I had to guess.. probably SPEC race rubber that only professional racers have access too.

Considering Rossi rides on Michelin GP rubber and the Power Race has proven itself in both professional and amatuer racing levels. I have no reason to see why Rossi would not have confidence in them.

I dunno.....I think it would have been hilarious if after all of that, he took off his helmet.........

and it was Max Biaggi!
Funniest post of the thread..

It would never happen though.. the last time Biaggi rode a Yamaha when he was still racing MotoGP.. all he did was complain all season long how much better a bike Honda made..

.. thats eventually what lead to Rossi switching from a Honda to a Yamaha and Biaggi switching a Yamaha to a Honda.. A year later we found out it wasnt the bike that Biaggi should have been complaining about it.. it was his skills!

I doubt if Yamaha would ever give him a chance to ride again looking at his past attitude and blame everything but himself whining ability.

So your saying my skill level has to be higher then his to have an opinion on his riding? who are you to question my opinions? What skills do you have on a literbike that allows you to call me a "hater" and say im wrong? and NOWHERE in any of my posts did I say the video was boring.

and yes generally thats what people have is opinions. unless youre still living in Nazi Germany or Saddam era Iraq. your comment here sounds like a third grader.

maybe because even though they are top of the line for amateur and pro racers, they dont even compare to rubber he gets to shred on. put one of those tires on his M1 well see how long it lasts. THATS WHY!

first off im no hater. just a person who looks at things with my own opinion and not that of the masses. and again somebody posts a reply to my statements that really make no sense since i have nothing but the greatest respect for ANY RACER in ANY CIRCUIT. why is everybody here sucking his co(k for riding a bike in a video for about a minute. he does nothing "amazing, or Just incredible, " in this video on the new bike that he hasnt done a million times in all his races. yes ROSSI is amazing, incredible, but this video isnt which is what this post is about. Just cause hes riding on race spec power races DOES NOT mean hes used to them. you think rossi spent all day getting used to this bike? Hell no. He hopped on went out for probably 5 laps at the most and sat in a chair saying " the 2007 R1 is very much like my M1." Yeah right. my posts are not saying that rossi sucks. im saying we get to see The Greatest ride our bike and it was a big let down and yet everybody is still star struck and just say. awesome! not me.

I swear to whatever you believe in, the R1 is the coolest looking sportbike I've ever seen

Mikess, I guess were watching 2 different videos, because I don't see where he looks uncomfortable in that video. I'd say he doesn't look like his normal champion self because he's riding about half speed so they can get good shots, and so he doesn't pass the camera man, but I don't think he looks uncomfortable. I personally love the video because my favorite racer is on my bike doing things I can't do. When he backed it in and slid that rear tire for about 100 feet, I was like :scared because I know I personally can't do that.

And I think Rossi would destroy any AMA or WSBK rider right now given equal equipment. Just read Colin Edwards commentaries from Racer X, and listen to what he has to say in The Doctor the Tornado, and the Kentucky Kid, and how he describes riding with Rossi. Then listen to what Hayden has to say about him. These are AMA champions that look up at him like he's not human.

Rossi is the greatest of all time, and he stepped down from his multi million dollar bike to ride ours for a few minutes. That makes me, and apparently a lot of other members happy. :)

Is there any way to post the link on Youtube or something... I get the no hotlinking and turn off my firewall and still nothing
Did you try just going to the yamaha europe web page? I'd just go there and try and find the video by searching through the pages. I haven't searched on youtube or anything yet, but I'm sure someone has the ability to download flash movies and will put it on there.

I understand where MikeSS is coming from a little bit. We've all seen Rossi do things on a motorcycles 10X greater than him backing that R1 into a corner. But that being said..watching him play around on a street bike hits closers to home because that's a bike that WE can ride. Watching him do incredible things GP bike is great but nobody here rides GP bikes so we can't relate to that. That's why that R1 video IS impressive.

Also, I really believe Rossi would OWN WSBK worse than he owns MotoGP. Picture how dominate Bayliss was last season then multiply that by 5.

My thoughts exactly.

1. That is a nice vid.

2. Mikess your overreacting.

3. People were on his nuts before this video.

4. I wish I could ride with that skill.

The term "on his nuts" is ignorant anyway. Admitting that someone is good when they are in fact good is not "on his/her nuts." It's just admitting the truth. I'm not directing that at you Mikess. I just don't understand why people say that.

Sorry to confuse you--compared to most Euro-spec tracks our tracks in the U.S. are terrible. We have nothing like Phillip Island, Brands Hatch, Donington, Monza, Silverstone, Mugello, the list goes on and on. The best tracks here are Laguna, Barber, and VIR..that's about it. Road America & Road Atlanta both have a lot of potential but need a lot of work done. If America wasn't so fascinated with NASCAR maybe we'd have more REAL race tracks instead of these narrow, bumpy, extremely bumpy circuits we have now.

I hear Miller is quite nice

Jeff, tell us about Miller...
