Yes and yes. Search for Weatman's posts in this thread.

Looks like I'll have mine next week. Just got off the phone with my dealer and they said they spoke to Yamaha and the ECU is ordered. But, the rep I talked to wasn't the one who spoke to them and was uncertain if they were requiring that my bike stay at the dealer until the new ECU was in. UGH! Beautiful weekend coming up here in MD. I want my bike! But I want it fixed too... so.

Bob
That is going to be up to the individual dealers. Earlier in the thread, someone reported his service dept asking for his vin and mileage and then telling him they would call him when the ECU was in. According to the tech exchange the dealer is supposed to check several things before they actually order the ECU.

AS FOR SOME OF YOU OTHER GUYS PLEASE READ THIS THREAD BEFORE ASKING THE SAME QUESTION OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!

Same here. Mine is finally on the way!!!!! The guy told me that he talked to the regional tech rep and he said that yamaha programed second gear with that flat spot on purpose so people wouldn't unintentionally flip the bike over on hard upshifts. hmmmm

I live in Atlanta. What dealership helped U?

Guys I started a thread to keep a running list of the dealers who know about the ECU swap and are willing to handle it. Please add to the list any dealers who you know for a fact are aware of the fix and willing to implement it.

In theory that is a good idea, but I don't want 300 people calling my dealer to ask them questions. Clogging up their phone lines and taking them away from their regular work would not be showing them my appreciation for giving me great costumer service. If someone wants the information from me (which has happened, and I don't mind that) they can send me a PM.

Think about it, there are not 300, 07 owners, in your area close enough to go to your dealer, let alone on this forum and then on this thread. To each his own :dunno

I realize there are not 300 07 R1 owners in my area, and I did not say there were. I said for 300 people to be calling them to ask them questions. Just like you have people on each of the "lag" threads asking the same questions over and over again that have been answered time and time again. I know you know what I am saying because you are always telling people to stay on track, and read previous post. (which I applaud)

What would be interesting to see would be all the dealers that have not been helpful in looking at the problem. So Yamaha could look and see what dealerships are lacking in the Customer Service Dept. Just my $.02

Hey R1_R1D0R,

Where are you in Fairfax?

I just took my bike in to Coleman's in Falls Church. I have previous bad experience with them but yet I bought another bike from them. Anyway, I hooked up with one guy who has been very friendly and helpful to me so far and told him about the problem. He had another tech take it for a test ride. When he came back his words were "I am a Ducati man and I have not ridden an R1 before. I could not duplicate the lag in 2nd gear 5500rpm but on low very low RPMs your bike sucks." They kept the bike as it is a "safety recall" and they could not allow me take the bike out of the shop before it is fixed. So here I am waiting/praying for a fast ECU swap.

Who is the dealership? Post it up so people know how they treat their customers!

you guys can add central maine powersports to the list of dealers who are takin care of buisness I got my new ecu in today they hooked me up with the part and I did the swap
as soon as I got home and took her out WOOHOOOOO!!!!!
5500 in 2nd pinned it and damned near looped it yeh man
now thats what I'm used to an r1 acting like.
I did a redline run thru the gears and WOOHOOOOO!!!!!
she hauled the front end up in 4 gears, thank you Yamaha mole!!!More importantly thanx to the R1 forum for making the problem public knowledge.
I did notice a substantially harder pull all the way thru the gear box more like what I'm used to on previous R1's
*Note to self cover the back brake when pinning second gear from now on*!!!!!!!!
The ecu I got was a new one I simply handed off my old one and was handed this one with the instructions that "We need a phone call from you no later than tomorrow morning with your test run results we have to report to yamaha on this asap".
to those that haven't gotten the new ecu's yet all I can say is stick to your guns and do not give up, the wait will be well worth it the new ecu will definitely make the 07 surpass even the press brag up yamaha gave it

Do you notice any improvement at very low RPMs (2-4k) when you give it full throttle - does it pull better now? Or just mid and high RPMs?

I really didn't set out to pin it flat off the stop but did notice a substantially harder pull than usual once it got past lik 2.5 k revs but you could still notice just a hint of the exup playing catch up below 4k but all that won't matter because it pulls so hard past 4k you won't even care
about that trust me on this your gonna be grinning and sportin a monster chubby after the ecu swap, and if you've got plans of pinning 2nd gear @ 5500 rpms you had better cover the back brake cuz she's gonna snarl like a gut shot grizzly and haul the front wheel vertical, I damned near looped her trying that sh!t lemme say it again WOOHOOOO!!!!! hope that says it all

are the dealers going to say anything about the aftermarket exhaust systems?
exhausts don't have anything to with the ecu.
now if you went in with all kinds of wires snipped off and jumpered on your old ecu yeh I'm thinking you'd be doing some explaining and not getting a new one.
