Not many SA people on the forum, quite sad. I think we need to market it a bit and get some areas to form forums.

Cape Town is stunning, I live in PTA but CPT has the best twisties, will bring the bike down next year.

Find, attached pics (oh those red things dangling from the pipes are the plugs they conveniently say "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" :rock ) Sorry forgot to take them out.

Stock 2007
GYTR Slips Ons
GYTR Air Filter
Solo Seat Cowl

and the rest will come next year :boobies

Well a big Hello to my fellow SA citizens,

Yup I agree the cape has got the best twisties, but the weather is crap, well I am stuck in good old Gauteng but we got good good tracks, Zwartkops is 10 km's from my house, but it's quite a short track, better for 600cc's, kayalami is also pretty close, damn long straight and turn 2/3 is killer.

Nice to see you guys here, it's an expensive sport here in SA but it reserves it I guess, for the more deicated. I'll get the bike down to Cape Town next year and come nad tear up those good twisties.

Ride Safe bro's, will see you soon.

I am glad you are familiar with SA, yes the tracks are good and we got some brilliant riders, it's difficult to get into racing, sponsors are not easy to come by, you need to start "private" and fyou have to fund your own fun for a while, so I think alot of talent is missed. There is also alot of misconception about SA in the international eye, it's actually very first world.

true, 1st world in a lot of ways, worked in the UK for a while, and i reckon SA is definately up there if you call farm lands and single lane roads apart from Central London "Firstworld"..... but I won't go there..... but on the BRIGHTER side, I entered a Drag Racing event(biggest in the Cape), called Fast and the Furious.... 2morrow, it shud b cool....... I also enquired, I'll be riding the Killarney track on the 13th Jan, can't wait 4 that!! Yes, Pierre, Kyalami is hectic, almost came short after the mine shaft on my 1st time there.... be safe, will let u guys know what happens..... Keep Kool!!!

hey r1juice, I'm still here ;-)

Been around Killarney a few times and was also going to go on Sunday till I read the weather report which says gale force winds, not fun!

btw, had my R1 since Feb last year, forgot about this thread :)

There is a track school at Killarney each month this year so no big deal if you miss one. Actually there is more than one as they are handled by different people but I generally only go to the Boland Bike track days/school.

Here is Boland Bikes schedule: http://www.twowheels.co.za/tdmenu.htm

Some pics of my bike which I took on Wednesday on the dam bridge just outside Villiersdorp on my way through Franshoek pass..

Hi Guys,

It seems that South Africans is quite hard to come by, but I must say so is
R1 ones in South Africa - must be because of the price.

It would have been nice if we were a bit closer to each other, but I want to come down to to Cape Town again some Time, Oh dear God those are the best twisties, those pictures of your bike next to the coast just makes me want to move down there.

I see they are running Calafornia Superbike School in SA now, there was a thread about it yesterday. Would Love to go and do it at Kayalami. I think it's R 3200 per level and there are four. a Bit pricy but I think it's worth every scent.

Market the forum and the thread, then we can start setting up a club.

Howzit my broers! :p
hehehe.
I've been on here for ages and many SA boytjies have
come and gone. We've been too geographically scattered across
SA to have any get togethers and the like. Mostly why
we so quiet I guess. Been riding an R1 since 2000. Got an '05
at the moment.

:bow Lekker my outjie !!!

Let's stick to spinglish :crash

Nice to see some more guys from around, yeah we are scattered. From where are u bru ?

I'm glad your an "R" veteran by the looks of it. I recently came from the "dark side" :secret: But I've been on a couple of R1's in the past and it was my goal to finally get my own. No regrets - what an addiction.

I've been a PTA boy all my life (the 30 years of it) but I work up in Africa most of the time, not much future at this stage in SA with all the damn politics and AA crap. But I spend enough time at home though.

We must make a plan and organize something to unite SA R1 riders, so we can post some pics of events and show the world how we do it, and what we are made of - even if it's damn expensive for us.

:sneaky And we have the best looking chicks :fact

Cool. Would be interesting to hear from him, how he likes the US and all that.
Always interesting to hear from locals who have gone abroad.
Thinking of doing so myself once I'm done studying.
