Question about rear sprockets, I noticed that my 04 R6 has 48 teeth on the rear sprocket and my 04 R1 has 45. I was wondering if I put a 48 on my R1 will it take off smooth as the R6? My R6 is smooth as silk!! My R1 I feel like a beginner again.:fork

gearing change will most certainly give you better response on take off ....lots of info on the forum about the subject of preformance on gearing and engine management....do a search ....you will find good info on how to mod your bike...according to your needs...also there is a east coast cycle squadron thread that you may want to join and subscribe to for more info.... it is a current active topic on the forum.... or view some of user name "Dan Q" posts for more details..

it depends on what u mean by smoother on ur R6? if u mean that its not as powerful so u can take off easier than now putting a 48 would make it worse cause like said before that will actually make the take off more abrupt....

but if u mean ur R6 is smoother cause it seems to have more power at the take off to you then going up would help but u will lose some top end and going up 3 might not be what u want to do ...

do a search and listen to what other people have to say about how they feel after there particular gearing combinations and then make a decision

Smoother meaning a little throttle and away I go. The R1 I get chatter and sometimes it stalls. I have been searching about stalls and chattered starts and their problem sounded like mine and they adjusted the EXUP cables. So Im doing that in the morning:fork

No More Stalls!!!

Well the problem was the exup cables but now the bike sounds like its searching:fork for the right rpm idle speed. And yes I tried the idle adjuster.
