I think I need new forks, and I was wondering what year forks will fit? If I got '01, or '02 forks, would I need to get anything else, or are they direct fit?

Direct fit, 02/03 has shorter overall length (still useable) and shorter 120mm stroke vs. 125mm stroke on the 98-01 (98-01 are identical). They share the same spring rates.

oh, and with 02-03 the front guard wont fit, and the axle is different.....

Wow you're on the ball, and completely correct about the fender and the axle/nut, however you contradict yourself in another post sateing the stroke at 130mm. Which is it and why should I just trust you? I tend to trust my own experiance and aquired knowledge.
