HEy guys, have a 2007 R1 with akrapovic slip ons. Wondering what the average hp would be on it with its current mods.

In the next month or two, planning on getting power commander with map for akrapovic slip on and y pipe. Any idea of the hp then.

Trying to decide to sell the slip ons, not buy the y pipe and just get a full system. Not really wanting to spend the extra cash on the full system, i've heard you only gain like 3 hp with the headers. Anyone with real number id appreciate it

Danny
i got an 07 with akrapovic slip ons and y pipe,pc3,bmc air filter and graves smog block off plates, dynod at 160.1 bhp and 79.3 ft lbs torque.im told it should be mid 170s.going to get it re tested on another dyno soon.seems way low with my mods.

What does the graves smog block off plates do, are they expensive?? I've heard about them before but never looked into them, i'll have to talk to my shop

Fact is all Dynos will have different readings, if you dont know how to put the power on the ground right then the extra couple Hp doesn't really matter. I know some like to brag about how fast their bike is but when it comes down to it they never come close to using the bike's full potential. I would invest the money in making sure you have your body protected as well, full leathers., if you dont have that already. The money spent on protecting yourself is priceless.
My approach is often different than most but thats how I roll.

the bike has an air induction system to bleed a little air in to the exhaust to lower emmisions.these hoses are on the cyclinder head.when removed and blocked off you can more accuratly fuel the bike, dyno set up and im told higher compression slightly.cost me 45 euro from graves motorsport.

Cool i appreciate the info, so i'm good with just the slip ons, when i get a y-pipe and remove the cats, thats when i'll need the block off plates.

Technically you don't NEED smog block offs or smog plates as some call them. Smog plates stop the awefull decel popping and will give you 1 or 2 hp. Most people install them when they add slip ons and a y-pipe or a full exhaust.

Akrapovic vs Arata will mostly be about preference. Arata is straight out of Japan and is somewhat rare. You won't see too many full Arata systems on the street on any type of bike. All Arata exhausts are full titanium piping. Akrapovic has a great reputation in quality and in racing. You have a lot of canister options w/ Akrapovic. But they also have options for stainless steel or titanium piping. Stainless will be cheaper than titanium but it also weighs a little more and doesn't dissapate heat as well as titanium. I just traded my full stainless steel Termignoni Competition exhaust for a full titanium Akrapovic shortened race exhaust. The quality of both exhaust were great but the Akrapovic is definitely a little nicer fit and finish.

Oh and Marietta Motorsports is a top notch shop. Huey tuned my 06 R1 and it gained about 10 hp. I actually have to go and retuned since I swapped the exhaust and reinstalled the secondary butterflies. I'll get back on the dyno before it warms back up here in ATL. Right now the bike is just relaxing for the upcominb season.

Hope all the info helps.

Oh and check in the For Sale forum for smog plates. There is a forum member that sells new ones that he machines himself. You can get these generic ones for very cheap. I got the A & R Motorsports smog block offs for around $25 shipped for the pair if I remember correctly.

I don't have access to a scanner but here are my numbers with an akra full carbon race system and a pc3 usb. My buddy Paco at Thiel's Wheels in Upper Sandusky did the tuning.

The first pull was 148hp at 12,300rpm. Yes this seems a little low with the full system. Paco did some investigating and said there was a problem with the pc3 and which map it was running.

The next pull was 161 at 12,200rpm. The curve was way more smooth. No middle dip. Very very slight dip at 10,500 only because the rear wheel broke loose and we didn't have time for another run.

So my end result was pretty good. I definitely noticed the power gain. We're going to give it another go in the spring. Paco thinks I'll be able to get anywhere from 3 - 7 horses more depending on the amount of time we get on the dyno.

So if you're in the Northwest Ohio area and want him to tune your bike either pm me and i'll set you up or go to Thiel's Wheels. You'll be happy. :fork

Im surprised with some of your results

I am running Yoshi slip ons, PCIII, and a custom tune and (its a 2006) it showed 154 rwhp

realistic results! you may want to use the same dyno that "akro" uses so you can be all kewl with big fake HP numbers like "their bikes" :rock

(SAE Horsepower)Max Power=172.7, (SAE Torque ft-lbs)Max Torque=84.3. See mods below.

before the block off plates went on i got savage blue flames poping out the exhausts on the over run,not as much now with them fitted.i gota get a run on another dyno up north soon to see wot the difference in dynos makes.she goes like shit off a scabby leg tho so not that fussed.and shes only bleedin gorgeous.the rozzers keep pullin me for a look at it.gettin a bit annoying now.at least there not writing me tickets.

G-Day Guys.

I have an 07 R1 and put a set of GEG carbon fibre slip on my ride, and man what a difference it has made not only does it sound Sh-t hot but it pulls so much better, geg claim that just with the slip ons you will gain an extra 6HP ??? all I know is these pipes have made such a difference to my ride, check out the web site..

While we're talking about dyno's and custom mapping, I live in Aiken, SC near Augusta, GA. I was thinking of taking my 07 R1 to KWS Motorsports in N. Charleston, SC to have it done. I think they said $250-$300.00 for cutom mapping and PCIII install. How much does Marietta Motorsports charge or does anybody have any input on KWS? Atlanta and Charleston would be about the same distance for me.

Marietta Motorsports charges I think $280 w/ a PC3 tune and $300 if you have another box such as a Bazzaz, Dobedeck, Juice Box, or Yosh Box. That's including tax. Marietta Motorsports does amazing work. I know KWS is generally who does there machine work so they are both amazing shops. I'd definitely recommend Huey from Marietta Motorsports though.
