Does it help for track use? I know your resume, and I value your .02

Without a doubt. I would not want to race without it and every time I sit on a race bike without it I'm reminded how much it helps. Riding without hanging on to the bars is one of the key fundamentals to riding well in any setting and attaching yourself to the bike with your legs alone is the only way to accomplish this. Stock seats and painted tanks are slippery as hell!

Another vote for Stomp Grip. I've had them on my '06 R6 since '06. As long as you put them on the proper way {heat from a hair dryer} they will not come off. Don't rush putting them on. Don't stick them on then unstick them. I've done many track days and some street riding in the heat and have never had a problem. Oh, they really make a difference too. I jumped on a '07 R1 {Streetjesters} at Deal's Gap last Summer and could really tell a huge difference since his bike did not have them. I was sliding all over the place.

:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup on the Stomp grips.

If the surface is prepped properly with alcohol to clean off the wax and whatever else used to protect the tank by letting the bike and SG sit in the sun to 1. heat up the metal/plastic, 2. to heat up the SG to make it pliable, and 3. putting the SG on with patience to prevent a lot of air from getting trapped under the pad, then you shouldn't have any problems.

- I have had the clear on mine for 2 years without bubbles!

Stomp Grip. I've had it on my bike since 05 and it even held up when the tsunami hit Indonesia. Never budged a bit. Sure some people tell me how could it since my bike and me were here safe in Michigan, but I think they are just nit picking little details.

Here's another for Stomp Grip... I had my original set on for about 3 years and loved them. They started moving around one the tank a bit last summer and I replaced them with some new ones and they were concrete until I tried to skip them across a track.

everybody seems to have some experience or opinions about the stomp grip, but i haven't really seen any reasons why you should choose it over the tech spec's. :dunno better grip, better appearance, better durability? nobody's had a real performance comparison from the two. i chose the tech spec over the stomp because i was told they were less harsh on leathers & i think they look way better. i got the snake skin tech spec's and haven't even ridden the bike since installing so i can't evaluate it, but give me a good reason why i should have gone with stomp instead. i've yet to see one. it seems like either is great to have and it's just a personal preference thing, not that one kicks ass over the other.

If you care more about what the 2 sq inch on the inside knee of your leathers, and the side of your tank looks like, get the tech spec. If you want the best grip between your legs and the bike, get the stompgrip.

Does it help for track use?
Hell's yeah! It let's me relax my grip on the tank with my legs; still have to grip, but a lot lighter. I particularly like them when I am hard on the brakes coming out off of a long straight, keeps me from sliding around and I don't have to grip so hard. Plus, it leaves my arms more relaxed because my body feels more planted which is key in being smooth and limiting unwanted steering input.

Personally can't confirm or deny if you are correct. Never tried the product because of so many complaints and seeing them laying on the track from falling off. :dunno
Stealing my wallpaper image huh? Making it your avatar now. I should ban you for not asking!!! :rant

i'm not on the track at all so yeah, protecting the appearance of my tank and not trashing my first set of leathers were major factors, that is considering that both brands would be of very similar performance. and i agree, the stomps are just butt ugly on a non track bike.

+1 for StompGrip

I've used it for many years with no problems. Much better than grip tape or non-skid. I don't feel it when riding in jeans (which, admittedly, is rare) and the wear on my leathers is not anything to write home about.

Well don't worry, the first time you go tumbling across the pavement in your leathers, you will realize that a scuff mark the size of a quarter inside each knee isn't "trashed". Plus, if someone is close enough to the inside of your knee to see that, tell 'em to get back to work! :lol

Personally, I don't see this as ugly. But what do I know, I ride a GSXR...
