i dont think you take racing into consdieration. hes competing with a japanese man thats been racing wsbk for majority of his career.

take into consideration the jetlag that hes not used to. hes been mainly on US tracks and around the US there isnt much jetlag to get used to.

and the reason why he ran out of fuel is because yamaha italia wsbk team freezes their gas tank and gas to get that extra 5% more fuel when its cold. what screwed him over is the pile up in teh beginning of the race that caused a major red flag. have you not watched the race?

i hate to call you out but you're being EXTREMELY inconsiderate. european tracks are WAY more technical than US tracks.

If there were anymore bumps in that track, it might as well be a dirt track.. wow! :finger

Ben will be fine. He rides the living snot out of that thing... Im guessing a double in Miller, but Haga is @ the top of his game on that Duc...

Not sure Ben will win the championship, but he'll get 2nd or 3rd which IMO cheers to him... :rock

:lol Oh I'm us to the bumps, you just need a good suspension setting, but still get lots of feedback on the bars.

They have budgeted a couple of million to upgrade it and get it up F1 and MotoGP standard.

It's the perfect track for a liter bike, and I think it's 5.2 km. It just needs some surface repair. It's a track used mostly by local V8 and other cager sports.

All that sucks is for track days they don't allow more than 120 decibells, still have to have mine tested.

I really can't help but too get a laugh out of this whole thing. By the start of round 3, people were ready to name this kid the champ.. now he's had a string of misfortune, and it's lets give him a break because he's a rookie! New tracks or not, theres only one way around it. Your not a rookie if you have a national title, against world caliber racer's...Even if you want to call him that, it went out the door the moment he took his 4th win. Racing is racing, doesn't matter where or what your on, if your fast- it will carry forward-Look at Jef ward!

I'll bet that guy's who have never been to Miller, will be on pace with those who have. On top of that, Ben is not going to have a runaway victory because he knows this track, The other's will be right on his heels. Even if he takes both wins, he will need haga to have a string of DNF's to make an impact on the points. This is what happens when you come out swinging from the start-(everyone loves you) but when you run out of breath, or fade a bit-(the excuses start). Ben was not let down by the bike, but himself and his team -period...I said it before, ben is having to ride the Yamaha like Haga did. That's the "only" reason Haga has been labled a crasher! Haga is reborn on the ducati and will not fall into the same routine while he was on the yamaha. However, I wish the same could be said for Ben!

very well said mate, to some extent.

I guess you guy's are right! He has "never" had any seat time on a motogp machine.. and has "never" raced against any former world or multi time champs. To think they wanted dump him in the lesser motogp series.....but instead he decided to fill the grid in wsbk....He surely has not developed the skills needed to run out front yet..and we should be amazed when he does.. What we witnessed in the first several rounds must have been beginner's luck! I guess I'll have to look on ebay for a clue too.. because I don't think anyone expected ben to do this good!

Get real... I personally don't care for him..but any fool knew he was going to do well. Wsbk is not the big leagues.. He needs to shine here....

WSBK is not the big leagues -- that's just brilliant. I guess what he's done in the first 12 races doesn't qualify as "shinning". You can't possibly be this stupid??????

Ben has made two unforced errors. He lost the front at Valencia pushing hard, and misjudged his line at Assen 2 by about an inch. The rest has been being run off the track, running out of fuel and a broken shifter which you can't fault the guy for. It's pretty safe to say that without the team and bike's problems, he would be right in the points, but it is what it is.

There is no need to 'excuse' his riding. He has ridden flat out amazing. Then factor in all the difficult circumstances and anyone who isn't a fan get's all pissy because they know what is to come. I have never been a Spies fan, but have never doubted his talent like some. With him representing the US on the world stage, I will throw him all my support, period, not cheerleading some other rider and taking shots at Ben for doing so well.

You guy's have lost view of what the discussion was about---ben "A rookie" If you believe that, you are fools..... Wsbk "IS" the stepping stone to motogp..where do all the all the raising wsbk stars go?...and those who fail to shine in motogp come back! No one is doubting ben talents!! and you what people to be shocked by how well he's done so far.. He will just be another, colin edwards, James toseland or Chris Vermulin if he can't clean house in Wsbk.

Pretty sad, your comments show how mature you really are... Truely a class act!!!!

250GP's is the stepping stone to GP. Stoner, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Dovizioso, de Angelis.....etc. There's like 4 guys from WSBK. WSBK to motoGP is more of a cross-over than a step up. The formulas are so different, the sponsorship issues and politics, etc. Look at Bayliss, didn't succeed first go-around with MotoGP. Then he was a multiple WSBK champion and took a one-off ride (on a good bike finally) and dominated the race flag to flag. There's no certainties in any of this.

If what you're saying is true, current motoGP riders should be able to drop back to WSBK and mop up.......NEWSFLASH.......it ain't working that way so far.

Ben did not want to come to wsbk, he wanted motogp, so therefor this is not the big leagues for him!!! You can't get to the top of the ladder, if you keep falling off the steps... I never doubted his talents....So where are you getting that????

MotoGP has been ruined and is currently broken. WSBK is where it's at.
exactly. besides james toseland is about to get his seat taken by ben spies. colin edwards was strong in wsbk but didn't exactly shine in the top of the grid of moto gp consistently. we all love edwards but he is not a moto gp supestar. and with chris vermulen, yes he is a great rider as well but he is not consistent enough to run with rossi, pedobot, or stoner. wsbk vs moto gp is a controversial topic because i support wsbk entertainment MORE than moto gp but the sad truth is wsbk transferees to moto gp aren't exactly that great.

i dont necessarily think its a stepping stone and im torn whether ben spies sohuld go to moto gp or not in the future becuase i would like to see ben spies handle a gp bike but its more entertaining to watch him in wsbk.

and like fiveoh, he is the only proper american rep for wskb and possible future motorcycle racing history. i was never once a fan for spies but he has proven himself.

Ben needs to shine in wsbk... The guy's coming up from 250 gp have a better handle on the skills/focus needed to perform in motogp. Ben's short wild card outings have not proven very convincing. He needs time in wsbk to develope. But He is by no means a beginner or a rookie in the series and has shown great results from the start, but really were people expecting different????

Spies is not a beginner but yes he IS a ROOKIE in WSBK plain and simple.

New bike...new team...new factory backing him...new sponsers...new tracks...new competitors...foreign countries (to him) that he's not familiar with...yep that makes him a rookie.

Yes he has a lot to learn about WSBK but he's done great overall...so far.
