So here I am in Iraq bored out of my mind for several hours a day in-between mission. I have been trying to come up with ideas for what exactly I want to do to the R1 once I get it. I'll have roughly $2,500 once I return just for mods. I want to mostly keep the money spent on performance, comfort instead of appearance. So this is what I've come up with and was wondering if you guys/gals could give me some more ideas on what exactly YOU would do if you had $2,500 to spend on a mostly stock 2009 R1. The plan is a Raven but the wife is pushing me to get a blue one so I guess we'll just see which one has the better deal in March of next year.
Here's what I've come up with so far:
Eliminate the cat, Y-pipe, Slip on exhaust *full exhaust would probably take up to much of the money*
Power Commander
Puig double bubble windscreen or some other company brand doesn't matter
Corbin seat with padding
Sprocket change? Would you suggest to do or not to do this? My kawasaki is plus 2 down 1 was thinking of going with the same for the R1.
Appearance mods:
Removal of the turn signals for flush mount
Removal of the rear mud flap thing for a integrated tail light and fender eliminator kit.
That's about all I've come up with so far. The only problem I wish I could find a work around are the bug eye headlights but they willl grow on me I suppose.
