So no go on the Corbin seat? What about that "comfort" seat Yamaha offers is it worth it? I just need something a little more padded as I'm a skinny guy and my butt is only bone. haha Power Commander is definitely at the top of my list to get for sure.
I did the seat mod in the how to part of the forum and it was like night and day. I don't get pushed into the tank when I brake now. As far as padding goes I tried using a gel insert but while it's fine at first it feels hard once you settle into it. Even the best seats padding will eventually compress down to the shape of your butt if you keep it in on the seat for long rides over time. Once I started holding my self just slightly up on the seat with my legs by butt felt better plus you can slide side to side easier when cornering also.

When everyone is saying suspension what exactly are you referring too? Another for braided brake lines... going to have to do some research on those as well as brake pads... my 6R came with really good brakes stock does the R1 lack in this department?
man if u think that zx6r breaks are good then u need no upgrades for the r1 i had an 06zx6r and 07zx6r and now the r1 and the 06 by far had the worst breaks :nforc:

If I had that money and had to make the decision for myself, I would spend the $$$ on a trailer or other means to make it to the track
The trailer is already funded by some other money. Mainly to bring it to Dallas for when I go home on long weekends/leave.

If you are in it for appearance, sound, and a little extra performance...
Slip-ons and Y-pipe
Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator
Custom LED Rear Tail Light w/ Integrated Turn Signals
Watsen Designs Flushmount Front Turn Signals
Spiegler SS Brake Lines
Power Commander

You should be able to do that on $2500. Other goodies I'd recommend...
Upgraded brake pads
Luimoto Seat Cover
Upgraded tires
Think I've decided on the exhaust, I really like the look and sound of the Graves C/F slip on. Well.. the sound I've heard on youtube through crappy laptop speakers haha. The Y pipe is up in the air right now... don't know if I want to get it I've been reading conflicting reviews on getting one. Wow another brake line suggestion... definitely going to get this one too. Power Commander will be the last thing I get once I get all the "performance" mods done so I can get it tuned. Integrated turn signals is a must I hate the mud flap look and bug eye turn signals so flush mounted front signals are also a must.

Hookers and blow. Come back with a story for us
what do you think the vacation fund is for! haha

2,499 tacos and a 99 cent diet coke.
actually with jack in the box i could get almost 5000 tacos... mmm jack in the box tacos....

what year bike are you getting ?????????btw i was in fallujah in 06..........
my 2009 R1 doesn't vibrate like the other bikes very very smooth ......
Looking at the 2009 model year right now but by the time I return in Feb of 2011 I might bump it up to a 2010 because I want to get it from a dealership if possible so they throw in some extra goodies like maintenance, extended warranty.

Graves full exhaust with C/F canisters, PCV, suspension "tuning", normal appearance mods, and I'm stuck. haha Now say I was trying to get 150 hp to the wheel just for poops and giggles. What would you suggest to get it there? Just curious if it's possible with just bolt ons or would I have to crack the motor open or add a FI.

Y pipe slipon, no on PCv get Bazzaz with auto tune get it maped.
BMC Race fitler.
Brake lines.

Use the rest of the money to go learn how to ride. Take corner speed. or California super bike school.

Or really go all out and take the California super bike school camp.

That will be the best performace modifaction, and IMO your best bang for you buck.

The slipons can really be classified as a appearnce mod.

IMO I would get heavier springs from ohlins for the forks and rear shock. Then a slipon with a Leo Vince y pipe for $275.00. I have one with my akra slip-ons. BMC race filter and Roth smog block off plates $20.00. Then a 520 chain kit. -1 in the front gave me better mid range. You can get a Vortex kit for $179.00 from Sumofallparts.com or a Driven kit for about $220.00. I have one of each and had the option for a colored chain. Next stainless brake lines will prevent brake fade over long rides at the track. Like everyone said, I would start suspension, then go performance. It will provide the most difference in your ride. Trust me.
I strongly recommend these mods in that order before the PC-V or any fi mod. You will have a lot of fun putting these things on and will appreciate what they do for you together. Ride it if you can after each mod. Then you will notice the additions each part makes. If you have any money left, visit superbikesupply.com and get an ohlins dampner. They've got em cheap!!
Good luck and get home safe!!!!

All good suggestions, but why has no-one mentioned the Jett re-flash? Thats a decent bang for the buck mod.

Power pure tires, Watsen flushmounts, shogun no-cut sliders (very well made and held up great in my crash), Custom LED rear taillight, Akra 3/4 system, or slipons w/gutted cat, power commander, thats probably 2500 or more.

Might not be any 09's left by then with the prices they are selling them for!

Good luck with it and hope you get back home to the USA safely!

I paid less than $2,000 for a Corbin seat, full titanium Sato exhaust, Ohlin's rear shock, levers, Puig wind screen, PC3, flush-mounts, 520 chain and -1/+2 sprockets, frame sliders, velocity stacks, and a fender eliminator.

The seat, exhaust, shock, PC3, sliders, stacks, and fender kit were all used

You can find deals.

don't nickel and dime yourself to death with little shit. you can always buy the little crap.

no way in hell you'll ever regret a set of BSTs. plus, in good condition, you could ALWAYS sell em around here if you deecided to.

the only other mod you could do with that ching to permanently improve your riding experience as much....

upgrade the RIDER. a badass race school. or three. :fact
