I like Ben just as much as the next guy, hell he's likable but, I don't think he'll ever come close to Rossi. I don't even think his name should be used in the same sentence. And mopping up 99, if Lorenzo is having a terrible day. .. maybe, but not with the way he's riding lately. While we will never be able to take anything from Rossi due to how good he is/was, I do think there is much room for improvement. In that comes Ben Spies. I think this is the point at where Lorenzo does his little robot dance with a gun to his helmet and falling to the ground at the thought of Spies mopping the track with him and that 99 bike.
While any of it may or may not be correct we won't know until next season rolls around. I guess I'm just basing my points off of the fact of how good of a rider Spies is on a satellite team. Hell I'm just excited that we have another American in the mix and as of right now everything he's doing is going in the right direction. Keep in mind that Spies is only 26 and Rossi was around that age when he joined the Fiat team. Rossi has had something like 16 years to get to where he is now in GP. Ben needs time to get to that point but I do believe that he can do it. He's doing extremely well for his maiden voyage in GP and I only look for things to get better with factory backing.I like Ben just as much as the next guy, hell he's likable but, I don't think he'll ever come close to Rossi. It's not just the riding with Rossi, it's the whole personality and the show that goes with it, it's legendary. Lorenzo or anyone else for that matter could shatter Rossi's achievements and wouldn't have half the global following that Rossi does.
I'm sure we'll all be referring to himI as an alien soon enough :lolWhile any of it may or may not be correct we won't know until next season rolls around. Don't even get me started... he's just a Rossi wannabe. I hope Spies sticks it to him next year.Lol very true. I don't have a clue about the modesty thing but I really like it. That's one thing I can't stand about Lorenzo. He does these robot dances when he wins like he's marked his territory forever. He needs a bit wake-up call to bring him back down to mortality with the rest of us.
:fact ain't that the truth. The way he celebrates his wins makes it impossible for me to be happy for him. I acknowledge the fact he rides so fast, clean and precise but hate the way he celebrates.Lol very true. I don't have a clue about the modesty thing but I really like it. Yeah and they said what you just quoted when he left Honda for Yamaha. They said it again after the 2006 season, the season where the M1 engine shat itself, during a race, multiple times, as well as all the tire chunking Michelin problems, etc. And when Stoner had a sizable advantage in 2007, they said it yet again "He's done." Each time they said that. Then what happened?LOL, get your knees ready, because he's the greatest development rider that's ever lived. Not only will the Duc be rideable, by the time he gets done with it, everyone will be able to jump on it and ride it fast. That's what he does.
I was the on who said that. :blushYeah and they said what you just quoted when he left Honda for Yamaha. Anyone that thinks he ISN'T the best development rider in the world probably needs to follow another sport. The Sterilgarda team said he did more development in for them in a few sessions than both SBK riders, combined, did all year haha.
Next year will be one thing, he'll be competitive but I'm more anxious to see what Rossi, Ducati, and hopefully Burgess come up with for the 1000cc switch in 2012.
"He's done." I've heard that so many times and just feel sorry for the poor suckers that type up that dribble. Go ahead and put some crow in the freezer to defrost at a later date :hammer:
That IS the writing on the wall...off topic slightly, but similar, is fiat going to ducati with rossi?
