So I just tried out an 07 and the riding position was a little too uncomfortable for me (I am 6'4" with extra long arms). I assume the 06 and 07 are the same? The tail is just a little too high I think.

Not sure about the '06 but you may wanna look at some aftermarket adjustable rearsets. R1s are widely known as being one of the most comfortable bikes especially for the taller guys. I'm just a hair shy of 6'3" and I've got tons of room and I'm still on factory rearsets.

I just couldn't get comfortable. Major pressure on that spot between your butt and legs, where they meet.

You just need to sit on an 04-06. You'll know then if it is better or worse than the 07/08. No on can tell you how it would be for you and you can't gage comfort from someone elses comfort level or preference. Lol

Honestly, if the 07 was TOO uncomfortable; you'll find the 06 uncomfortable too.

Its defo uncomfy when you come up front on the tank. Its fine as long as you remain back with the butt on the pillion.

+1 the 04 -up R1 seating position, you should be further back on the seat, it is meant to be somewhat aggressive compared to the other bikes except for ducati

I havn't sat on a bike that was more comfortable than my 07 R1, especially for a taller person. I'm 6' if an 07 is small for you everything else must seem like a pocket rocket.

I'm 6'5" and my 08 is very comfortable. I rode 200+ miles last Sunday with only one stop for gas and I was fine.

:stpd: Just have to ride them to see how they feel after a while. I'm 6 ft. and my 02 and 06 were more comfortable than any of the previous sport bikes I've owned. My 06 is slightly more comfortable than my 02.

I also thought they would be the same too, since it was only minor changes from the 06 to the 07 (sans the 5v vs 4v)
