yeah thanks Red, found some guy selling the same one locally and its brand new for 25 buck so i will pick it up tonight and toss into my bike.

question tho, will i need to recharge my battery or just toss that in and it will charge it for me? im not sure as to how or what i have to do with the battery once i have connected the battery tender to the battery? do i just leave it plugged in till im ready to ride or do i plug it for a few hours and unplug it? what about when im actually riding the bike do i leave the thing plugged in or unplugged.

thanks boys

The charger will charge the battery for you once it's connected up, probably take all night if it's totally dead but it will monitor and give the battery what it needs and top off as necessary :fact
If your not riding just plug it in and leave it, if you are riding regularly there is probably no need, I rarely use mine during riding season :fact
As for when you are riding you better unplug it unless you have a really long extension cord :lol

The gecko got most of it - I'll just add that stating the bike and letting it idle will not really charge your battery. You need to actually ride it for some time to charge the thing.
Mine sit on a bettery tender (jr) all the time. For the R1 I have it hard wired to the battery and run the lead out under the back seat. When I'm not going to ride it for a while I just pop off the back seat and plug it in.

I got that bit :2bitchsla :hammer::hammer:

My plug just sits under the right side of the seat, don't even have to take anything off to plug it in :thumbup

Red / Mad,

here is the question i have now, so i picked up the TB Junior and took out my battery and plugged it at home the problem if it even is one that im having is that when i plugged it in it directly gave me a sold green light and it has been solid since lastnight from about 6pm? from my understanding the Green light means storage!!! i have yet to see the red light come on to indicated that the battery is charging?? i thought the reason why i would plug it in is so that it would charge it? and then go into storage mode........

does this mean that my battery is fine and it may be another problem that i should be looking at?
if the battery were dead or did not have enough juitce then the light should have started RED and then gone to GREEN? correct? because this was not the case

thanks R/M

Well it's one of 2 things if the green light came straight on and this will not help much.
1. Either the battery is faulty or
2. The battery is fully charged.

Was the bike still not starting when you took the battery out ?
The only other way of finding out is with a meter if you have one ?

no the bike was not starting, it was turning over and then would die and tick....

i could get a meter or take it to Canadian tire (its like your autozone) and have them test it to see if there is anything wrong....

this is getting on my nerve that i cant figure it out....

thanks again Red

Well the way to be sure now is to put a meter on the battery and see what you've got, if you have somewhere close that will do it i would get it done. It's the only way now we'll know if the battery is good or not. If it's good we have another problem.
I can understand your frustration as the bike was fine before the fairing change and it does seem strange that the battery would die at the same time, but stranger things have happened and it's the easiest to eliminate at this point.

As a matter of interest do you have a service manual for the bike ?

no service manual, but i think i have a copy somewhere that i downloaded it from the internet. why do you ask

i will try and make it out there tonight and see if i can have it tested, Red i really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. same goes to Mad and the rest

i dont think so X love my Yami too much to be a trader lol

Totally get it. I was just being funny guy.

Good luck mang and Im sure someone here will help you on your year. Red is right, battery, stator, or regulator/rectifier are the three...

Also might take the time to go through your wiring harness with dielectric grease.

what i cant seem to understand, and whats driving me up the Fuking wall is how it was sparking just fine before the color swap and now its not???

and Yes so far Red has been a lot of help in getting the problem sorted out

i just picked up an 08 r1 last night...ran fine at the guys house...towed it home 4 hours in 20 degree weather....battery was dead at home...jumped it...ran it for 10 minutes.....this morning the battery was dead again...the cold kills it if its weak...give it a full charge and it should be fine!

He's already tried charging it and it's either fully charged or will not accept charge, going to need to go on a meter now to see where he's at :fact

Sometimes the charger will show a green solid light at first and then go to a blinking red (bad battery) after some time. My track car did that when it needed a new battery.
I still think it's a bad battery..
You can test the battery if you have a volt meter. Disconnect the terminals and see what it reads. If it's under 12V even after sitting on a charger it's most likely toast.
If you need a service manual for the 07/08 PM me.

So here is the battery test that I got from the place I brought it too!

Battery test.
Good-recharge
Voltage- 11.75v
Measured- 79 cca
Rated- ytx7l-bs
Temperature- 20c

Side note,
The guy there said that the battery is showing it's charged and good but low on charge, charge battery and return to bike.
They also said that it may have some dead cells?
They are gonna give it a slow 6 hour charge and see, then theyll be able to tell me for sure if it's done and needs replacing.

Input on the battery condition based on the results?
