Went to Indy this weekend for the GP and had to see what the hell kind of bikes Yamaha picked to be in their bike show. SSPilot and myself were both chosen as winners in their "SSB Virtual Bike Show." We both got free three day general admission tickets to the GP. Neither of us were chosen to display our bikes. No big deal...I was just hoping to be picked since they were giving $300 cash to offset the cost of transporting it there. I was doing a trackday at Putnam the day after so my '09 was coming with regardless. I can't begin to tell you how dissappointed I was when I saw what was picked to display there. 1OGR1 and Attack Performance both had winning bikes that were displayed at Laguna so I thought maybe we'd have a decent chance at being picked. Boy was I wrong. SS and I have both chosen to go with the WSBK performance/look. I guess that style is not what's very popular. Of all the R1's displayed there were only two without stretched swingers/chrome/neon/led's/custom (garish/gaudy) paint. This was in both professional and amature builder classes. The only two that weren't stretched had slip-ons and windscreens and not much else. There were a couple Japanese guys from Yamaha behind the table in the tent who had to listen to me bitch for a couple minutes. They said, "yes...yes...yes" and "you should bring your bike here." I told them it was in the lot and they gave me a keychain and some stickers. I'm sure they were just hoping I'd go away. I just figured at a performance event like Indy they'd pick a couple bikes that show the R1 in its' pure state and used the way it was desinged to be. Sorry about the rant so here's a few pics of the "winners" :bash:crash:no
The only bikes that weren't stretched...
Not to hate on the last two but come on....:whtfu: Did they even look at SSPilot's?? :dunno
