So, I know this is an R1 forum and most people are gonna say buy the R1 but I want honest opinions. I am buying a bike within the next 2 weeks and not sure which to buy. Money isn't the option between the bikes so I will not list prices. I am looking between a blue/white '07 R1, a orange/black '07 GSXR 1000 (picture below is not actual picture but looks like it but it has a chrome yoshi exhaust), and a bergundy/black '06 GSXR 750. All are gorgeous bikes that have been maintained very well.

I previously owned a CBR 600 and am upgrading to something faster. The 750 is a great all-around bike with the weight and flickability of a 600 but just not as much power as the 1000.

I have been reading on here about the lag problems of the '07 R1s and how the starting is sometimes weird. Those are my only issues with that and i'm not quite sure if the R1 has a new ecu getting rid of the lag problem. I will have to test drive it.

Other than that I dont see any problems with any of the bikes but I just wanna know everybody else's opinions. So what do you think?

The R1 has a lot of aftermarket goodies. There isn't that much difference between a 750 and 600. The GSXR1K will need some goodies. Think the R1 will be your best bet.

Yeah, I'm leaning more towards the 1000 so i don't get tired of the 750s power and want to upgrade again. But the R1 has a Graves exhaust and I'm not quite sure what else. I haven't seen the bike in person yet. But I just dont want to get it have have the lag problem and the staring issues that everyone else has. The GSXR is definitely a sweet bike, I haven't rode an R1 but I rode my bros '08 1000 and loved it, but your right, it will need some things. From what I've seen it only has the Yoshi exhaust on the GSXR 1k

That's a stock exhaust on that 1K. The guys with the 07's will set you straight. Put some aftermarket exhausts on a few with PC's and never had lagging issues. They do start weird.
The pic of that GSXR 1000 is not the actual picture of the bike I'm looking at. I can't download the pic of the actual one but it has a chrome Yoshimura exhaust installed on it. And if the R1 didn't have those issues that'd be my decision. But is there any way to fix the starting issues of the R1? I'm sure the lag issue is fixed on it

There are no starting issues with the 07-08 r1. I've had three 07 r1's and they've all started just fine. The lag issue is an ecu swap which should've been taken care of by previous owner. Holding down the starter button for a second or two longer is not a dramatic starting problem.

Holy Hell! That R1 needs a new fvckin chain BAD ! Lol

If you're buying it to stunt, go for the Gixxer. If you're buying it for anything else, go with the R1 <- just my .02

Oh, ok. I was just seeing people hitting the start button normal and it'd start and shut right back off. But i did read somewhere about holding the button in longer. Do you always need to hold it in longer and why do you have to? I'm just curious

I'm not really going to stunt it. Just wheelies, nothing else. How is the R1 with wheelies?

what exactly did you mean by, which one..

you only posted :fork

several members have 07s tuned to roughly 158rwhp... with a killer top end.!

BOGIE swears by them,... and i can see why!

No starting problems with my 07 either - wan't aware of a "rash" of such issue with the bike. The lag issue if it hasn't been addressed is a matter of having the ECU swapped, free of charge by a dealer.
That chain does look horrible on the R1....
For street I like a liter, for track I'd take the 750. Being the R1 forum the opinion on which liter bike you should choose is gonna be a hair biased.

If you can, ride both 1k's and see how you fit on them. Couple of our guys have each brand and model and comment on how you sit ON the R1 but seem to sit IN the GSXR. OP also posted both have exhaust so it will come down to how each will feel when ya ride it and what color ya like. Can't really go wrong with either but never really felt the Orange/Black combo on the Suzi. :thumbup

.

Test Ride the R1 and the GSXR 1000 and make up your mind.
Not feeling the GSXR1000 color though. It looks much nicer in blue/white.
