My 99 r1 fiat build

Yeah.. I.m def getting the tank painted. Prolly finish off the fairing theme with it. Blue/silver/white. Get my undertail painted white as well. I am going to order the factory tank/knee trim plastics that were made for this bike. The more I looked at pictures of 99.s I realized I had the wrong piece on mine...

So today, I stripped my bike down to no fairings or plastics today and cleaned every portion of this bike... I degreased and regreased. I polished my exhaust and headers... All bright and shiny silver now. Armor alled every black hose AND cable. Removed a lot of the blue wire loom. Practically all but what was on brake lines. I then scrubbed both side of plastics before putting them back on. The bike is spotless. Now time to decide between chain and sprocket kit, stabilizer, or about 280 on visual mods like flush mount turn sigs, mirror block off plates and bar end mirrors with new grips.as well... Hmm... I also wanna put in some new spark plugs and a new battery. Plus exhaust.... Geez... I gotta get a lot done to this bike, bit in the end, its gonna be done right.... Thanks for the advice, and link to that exhaust... Def. Considering it. I think it would eliminate the popping I get from my exhaust. I've ridden shortys, and full size exhaust. Only thing I like about shorty.s are the look. I hate the loudness and lack of back pressure...

You still will get popping noise. I have a nice Yosh carbon but I dont think you can find the carbon ones anymore. Hard to find stuff for this bike because of its age. The ideal exhaust would be a full Akrapovic!

Just made an order... Super stoked getting a repair manual. First one I've owned since I've gotten into bikes. Can't.decide if I wanna go with new sprockets and chain or new brake pads, lines, and rotors for my next order. And Hell exhaust and new jet kit and spark plugs and battery is another round of purchases. So... Give or take... Another 1500, and I.ll be a Hell of a lot closer to being done with this project. I've decided I.m def gonna go with a mivv exhaust. Good exhaust and fair pricing...

So... Got bored yesterday... Decided to hook up a 12 volt adapter so I can charge my phone while on the go. I also got a splitter for this said adapter. So now I have four outlets. 1 four my phone, one for led and auxillary lighting and one for my garmin. Also, if my chick is riding she has a spot to plug in her phone. I.d say it looks legit and didn't take up hardly any trunk space...

I also got around to mounting my flush mount turn Signals. I like the way they look and they fill in the whole that was in these fairings... Factory wholes of course... I actually had to fab a back plate to mount these...

Well... Just talked to a dealer in Houston... Prolly trading mine for an 07 r1... Pretty excited. Of course, I.ll have a monthly note, but I own my house and only pay water, electricity, insurance and cell. I.ll just consider this expense "rent" in a sense. Pretty excited... It's the raven edition if I.m correct... With red wheel tape.

Well... Went and test drove a 12' model. Absolutely loved it. Found out all iwould get for mine in current condition is 2 g.s... I would have better luck selling it on craigslist around here. I did get some pointers from the dealer however. He said the engine sounded good, but I need to get carbs and exhaust lined up... He mentioned getting the tank painted to match the fairings. Not a problem. Clean up the undertail job the PO performed. I agree that its pretty jacked. I asked him if powder coating the wheels, frame, swing arm forks would make.a.difference... He basically said either that or polished. As long as it was clean. It felt good getting it inspected by a pro. He said if I accomplished those things I could.easily.get 3500 for it on trade in... So... Just some little odd.and.end things imma get sorted. Got one.side of my tank trim in the mail. Fairing windscreen bolts match. Got my bar ends in. Grips and solo cowl should be in today... I don't know when imma get my other tank trim in, but when I do, imma get em painted and throw em on...

its been awhile...

since i have got on here and updated some pics.. still my project bike. havent ordered the exhaust i want yet, but i am def going with a mivv high mount exhaust... added wheel stripes and a couple little odd and end things. what do you guys think? also.. white tank is temp till i get my yamaha blue paint i ordered for the tank... i.d say 2 grand more and i will have this bike exactly how i want it.
