No doubt. On a trip to the gap we rode on some Georgia rodes on some pavement they called glassphalt it was flat out amazing traction. I tore up a brand new rear to the point we had pulled off on a break and I was showing threads on one side. Had to ride slow the rest of that Sunday. I had put the tire on that Friday before we rode down. The first day was the trip there which ended up being a 570 mile day backroads the whole way. Saturday all day was the gap. Then Sunday we ended up in Georgia and I noticed my tire at about 2pm. Talk about traction. Wow. That was on my 02 R1 in 2003. I put 33,000 miles on that bike in its first year and 3 months. That bike took serious abuse. I can only hope my 04 is as bulletproof.
Man I hadn't heard that term but you NAILED it, at sun down and sun up you can see the glitter in those roads, so much grip in the wet. I've been on racetracks that didn't have as much grip as that pavement. We'd come in at the end of the day and I swore some of that glitter/glass/silica whatever magic fairy dust they use was stuck in my tires.

We did 5 days last year and about 1600 miles of curves, and we didn't get to explore every road there. We stayed at the 2 Wheel Inn, in Robbinsville NC as our base.

I took my 400 so she's gentle on tires bro.

Definitely a very fun area. We always stopped at some bike place in Georgia I think it was called suchs Georgia. Big ride in up there bikes everywhere. Good times for sure.

I'm riding mainly track and the Dunlop ntec slicks on track shaved 4 seconds off my lap times vs rs10. The turn in was night and day.

But at slow speed the steep profile was jittery.

I hear q3 is a nice dual duty tire. I have zero xp on that though.

Rs10 seemed to stick but wore way quick. It felt like it wanted to stand up in corners.

The ntec slicks are awesome, I love them, the d211 work pretty good too, i would like to try the pirreli slicks but for the price of the ntec and they work , seems stupid not to just stick with them. I have been running the q3s now for about 5 years or around 30,000 miles worth , took a little getting used to but they stick, if you push hard on a hot day they will get greasy, I feel the s21 and the pilot power 2ct do the same, just with slightly less grip. I hated the pilot power 3 almost high sided countless times until the set was finished then ran back to the q3. Yes their stuff, yes the have less feeling in the front but once you learn their tendencies they are awesome, 29 front 27 rear

+1 I had the same experience with the NTEC slicks, -3 secs on my best laptime!

Guys the metzler m7RR is looking pretty good
At 158 for a rear but I'm thinking I'll still go with the Michelin because even back in the day I always wanted to try a set of Michelin. There only about 40 bucks more. So I'm down to the M7RR, the Michelin power RS, or diablo corsa. And on all 3 I'm considering going race for the front being the front last pretty long anyway. So if I got say the diablo corsa I'd grab a supercorsa front. This is just a maybe. I've never mixed race front with street rear but I've always had plenty of throw offs till now. Those who say warm up is a issue and race is not as good for the street i totally disagree. I've even heard 20 minute warm up time and sliding all over to work on a race tire because it's not warmed up. I've never felt anything like this and have always been able to get them going in just a few minutes. I've found full race tires to have pretty darn good traction even cold. The things will heat up in 5 minutes in a 60 degree day. Bottom line is race rubber just hooks up best the only reason I'm going with a dual street track rear is to try to get 3,000 miles vs 1500 miles.

Ready to order and thinking revzilla may be the best price I can find. But I need to know guys can I get the 190/55 on my rear of my 2004 R1??? I'm stock front sprocket and +2 on the rear bringing that rear wheel forward a bit I'm sure. But I will say my 190/50 is fits fine of coarse and I'm due to adjust my chain it's on the loose side for sure. Anyone had any experience running a 190/55 on a 04 R1? I'm looking for that little bit faster turn in and think the 190/55 may help where the stock 190/50 just seems perfectly round.

First off I never said pin a throttle at full lean. Second if you are getting 5k out of that tire and still have the markings on the outer edge you need to look in the mirror and be ashamed of yourself and find a new hobby. 3rd it's not my fault you are nothing but a follower you jumped on the bandwagon of everybody that was debating against because you don't have a mind of your own. In a thread none the less that I ended up being right in. To top it off you brought someone in there that had quite a bit of knowledge to try to prove me wrong. How did that go??? Oh wait he ended up agreeing with me. Wich made you look like a total dumb ass. How about the countless messages you sent me asking for advice???? Hmmm but only because I disagreed with your so called internet buddies wich again I ended up right. You jumped onboard with them cause you don't have a mind of your own and are nothing but a poser and a follower. Sink tons of money into your bike and are slow as hell. Give me a break one2
Dont bother arguing with him, the guy will never admit hes wrong. Him grasping at straws to say he talked to friends and they agreed with him after drjak disagreed with him just shows how stubborn he is, its ok to be wrong:kiss:
Its also pretty damn funny how he asked you for advice and is now saying you dont know shit. I watched a video of a guy before and he was able to tell a lot of riding errors just by looking at the rear tires so your theories could be right

Now back to the thread, im in need of new tires too and need something that lasts longer than my SC's. I dont track and purely ride city but pretty aggressive or atleast i like to think

Maybe the sp version or the q3. Try running a little higher pressures. It's always give thowe. Kinda have to choose between grip vs longevity. Lol

Go through the forum and see how many people disagree with this guy the the argument starts many post and threads ago. Which is pointless and stupid.

I'll just add you to the ignore list also.

I'm not losing any sleep.

See that's the thing just cause a lot of people disagree with one person does not determine who is right. Like I said your nothing more than a follower.

Can't we all just get along.lol
I'm ready for a set of Michelin I think. If I knew for certain which set out of the Michelin or the diablo corsas turn in quickest I would then definitely know my answer. I love that tippy turn in feeling. Kinda like your riding on ten speed tires that are stuck on rails. Gosh I'm just so glad to be back in my bike. Rode it to work yesterday then on the way home I just couldn't seem to head towards home. Took about a hour to get home which is less than 5 miles away. But I had fun. These stock tires I won't push at all being I almost learned the hard way on them already.

I had a 55 series on my 05 R1, no issues bro. I was -1 +2 gearing FWIW.

Ok so the only difference between yours and mine is I am not down one in the front which could hurt a bit but I'm thinking I'll be fine. I bet that thing was super aggressive with -1 +3 wow. I'm happy with just +2 on the rear. If this 190/55 was to be too large I would just go back to stock rear and go down one up front.

I did read that thread and yeah there was a lot of people that disagreed him but the "1 guy" you decide to call out as your expert disagreed with you so what does that say about you being right or wrong? Yeah its cool to pretend to know everything about bikes but when you get called out on your BS own it lol

Please one2, i beg of you please dont add me to the ignore list. I promise i will agree with everything you post. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was wrong when i disagreed with you that brake/clutch levers need to have adjust ability, you're right they dont and anyone with smaller hands should just learn to reach farther instead of having a simple knob that allows the lever to come closer.

My base elevation then was 4200 feet so it needed it to make up for the power loss with altitude.

I loved that bike, sold her with 12,000 or 13,000 miles in 2 years. Did a full graves, stacks, and tune and she made 160 even, but picked up around 20 horse in the middle where the dip was. Very comfortable. I never got the chance to track her, only drags. Top end above 8000 rpm was insane on that bike.
