I installed a 520 conversion on my 02 R1 last week. I went and put new plugs in it today, after i did that i decided to adjust the chain. Problem is i can't get the chain to tighten up, that's the first problem. Second problem is when i pull in the clutch to roll the bike it wont roll forward or backward. Could i have installed something wrong? What could be the problem? Thanks for any help.

Forgot to mention it will roll in neutral.

Got to loosen the rear axle in order to adjust the chain.(hoping I dont sound like an ass telling this!)

The bike who doesnt roll in gear with clutch in...........

mmmmmm.......clutch is not properly adjusted?

Did you tried turning the adjuting knob counter-clockwise at least half a turn?

You don't sound like an ass Martin. I did loosen it. It's been put up all winter, i was doing the work so it can be ready for spring. It was in perfect condition when put up.

If the bike's been in storage for awhile, the clutch problem will most likely go away after you've run the bike for a couple minutes to allow the oil to heat up and get distrubited through the motor.

What happens is that the oil has drained to the bottom of the motor and allowed the clutch to "dry" out enough to cause the plates to stick together. If you've got the muscle, you might even be able to put it in gear (ENGINE OFF) and hold the clutch lever in, rock the bike back and forth to break the clutch loose.

I wouldn't worry about the problem being anything huge.

I just wanted to thank the guys in this thread for the help. I got the chain adjusted right, let the bike warm up and get oil throughout the motor and the clutch worked fine.:rock
