I just ordered mine! That place sucks for service. I hope they actually get to me!
:lol i'm gonna laugh when you get two right footed boots, one blue in size 7 and one red in size 13! :lol jk! if you ordered them from the same place i did, i don't think you'll have any problems. i haven't gotten mine yet, but they seemed pretty cool to me. elk

My buddy told me what we used, I am not sure of the name of it. From what he said it is basically the black shoe paint. I think it has the little bristle things on top of the can. There is a boot shop right down the street from where I work. I will go by there tomorrow and see what they have and get back with you tomorrow. Is that cool?

as far as the zipper goes i have had no problem my joe rockets the zipper broke trying to zip them over my leathers. no problems with the oxtars at all zip right up. with my toe slider falling off it is screwed in but i ripped the nutplate that is sewn into the leather out so I could not replace my slider. but I hit the cone pretty hard enough actually to make my big toe bleed LOL. so other than that i would say the boots have held up very good for me and comfort is very good during riding and walking around if you do not mind the TCS part squeeking.and that part works really good it is just a shock like deal in te back so the boot moves back and forth so you can adjust your feet on the pegs or walking. So you do not feel like you are walking with a ski boot on.

Hey gawarrior, any word on that leather dye shit?
I just got back from the local shop. The stuff he told me to use is called Meltonian. It is a black color spray. He said that if it is acutual leather then it would stick permanantly with no problem. He said that if it is man made then it would flake off. Hope this helps. I took a pic of the can with my camera, but I will have to wait until I get home to post the pic.

Awesome!! I REALLY REALLY Appreciate you taking those pics for me! Hopefully I can make it to the gap trip and repay you somehow :). Do you know if the leather on the boots is man made or real?
No need to repay me, just come to the Gap trip. That will be good enough. You will definately not regret it. Gonna be a great time. I will check my boots to see if they are genuine leather or man made. Be right back.

I couldn't find where it said for sure on mine. So I went to their website. It says that the upper is Lorica. Not sure exactly what that is. Here is the link. http://www.oxtar.com/oxtar/uk_m/prodotti/catalogo/scheda_prodotto.php-type=racing&cod=7630.htm

I guess you could try and see if the spray sticks to it.:dunno It looks like leather to me. So maybe it will stick. Maybe even rough it up ever so slightly with a scothbrite pad or something. That may get it to stick better.

Looks pretty good. You might want to try it. Especially since it says leathers, vinyl, and plastic. That might be closer to what we used for baseball.

So I emailed this guy from this website about my situation and this is what he replied with.

I looked at the boots. You can use the kelly's black liquid dye on them. The most important thing to do is to buy the nu life preparer to get all the dirt and polish off the boot. (Even though they are new they still have a heavy coat of polish on them)You will have to strip the boot down and apply the dye.You could pick up a spray can of the nu-life black spray paint just to seal the job up after your done.

Cool, sounds like you are set then. Enjoy the boots. And hope to see you in June at the Gap.

this might sound a little funny, but if you want to get the polish off of the boot, just use shaving cream. no joke! put some shaving cream on the, then get a brush (like a dish brush) and just start brushing the boots. make sure they are damp with water when you apply the shaving cream. then after a good brushing, just rinse with water. thats it.

know i know you are wondering where i came up with this idea, so i'll tell you...boot camp. in boot camp when we get out new leather boots, they come with a polish on them just like these boots will. well you can't spit shine boots until you take the polish off. so as soon as we get out boots, we go out to the wash rack and scrub them with shaving cream to get the polish off. works like a charm! you should try it before you go spending $ on something thats not necessary. elk

Yeah, I just ordered all the dye, so hopefully everything will get here together. I'm trying to get 5 people to come down to the gap with me, but I just need a way of getting the bikes down there.
That would be cool. With five guys you will probably need either a big trailer or two trucks and a trailer. Were are you coming from?

Coming from the Northern Va, MD, D.C. Area.
Check over on the East Coast Convention thread. I am pretty sure there are some other guys coming from those areas. Ya'll might be able to work out some arrangements hauling the bikes.
