Alright guys I'm not what you would call a seasoned street bike rider but I grew up on dirt bikes 4 wheelers and yes I'm old enough I remember when the 1st 3 wheeler hit the trails- anyway I recently bought a 2001 YZF R1. To say I really like this bike would be a gross understatement! I can't describe the joy Ive experienced on this bike - AMAZING!!! about 2 months ago I was cruising along and got off the main drag coming up on a split intersection , I was in the right lane a lady was in the left lane . About aprx.100 yards from the stop sign I put on my right blinker she had on her left. I was about at her rear 1/4 panel when she decided to turn right instead of left. She clipped me just hard enough to bump me of the pavement into the grass. Soon as my tires met the soft grass it was over . I was on the the ground looked up just in time to see her make the right turn - she never checked up . I broke my collar bone but worse my bike was laying on its side plastics pretty screwed up on the one side. They took me in an ambulance and my bike on a rollback .i was in the hospital a couple days and then the weekend hit so my bike was at the tow company about 6 days . When I got there to pick it up it was laying on the ground like command garbage.Btoke my heart and pissed me off at the same time. I ordered new fairings and got them put on . When I cranked her up oil is coming out the exhaust . My question is could that have something to do with it laying on its side for that week or I'm I bout to get my heart broke again? I mean here it is June the weather's been great where I'm at and I want to ride . I love that bike. Can anyone give positive feed back ?
