Hello Everyone, I am first time poster from Regina, SK Canada. My question that I need help with mainly goes out to Euro/Canadian R1 owners but US R1 owners please chime in if you have some incite. I have tried using the search function for about a week as well as searching Google and have only found one or two threads regarding this problem.
I have 2007 Yamaha R1 (Canadian model with immobilizer)
Aftermarket Mods include:
-A & R Race baffles
-mid pipe and y pipe (No Cat)
-vortex rear sets
-Hid headlights
-Halo lights
-Scorpio i-900 alarm system
-bulletproof keyless ignition system (RFID)
-Speedo healer
-gipro x type gear indicator
-other mods I have are only cosmetic so probably not worth mentioning
The problem I am having started right after I installed the bulletproof RFID keyless ignition system. I accidentally cut the copper wire pickup ring that surrounds the ignition barrel (I wanted to removed the ignition barrel and immobilizer completely off the bike), ever since I did that my dash has displayed a "HI TEMP" warning in the top right hand side, there are no other fault codes displayed. with this code displayed I cannot start my bike, it makes all the typical start up noises and turns over fine but it will not start, my guess is the fuel pump isn’t pushing out fuel or there is no spark.
Is this "HI TEMP" code displayed only because that copper ring on the immobilizer was cut? Is my ECU Fried or damaged? I have checked all my wiring and everything is connected the way it should be and I have continuity throughout the harness. I understand that I have to bypass the immobilizer so I purchased a Yamaha immobilizer emulator from china and sad to say it has not worked for me, so then I thought about swapping out the ECU and Harness for an American spec one, but I thought before I do that I will try and get my ECU Reflashed. So I talked to JETT Tuning in California and they said that they will reflash my ECU to US spec and all I will have to do is swap out 8 wires on my wiring harness and that will bypass the immobilizer. They guarantee this to work. I had a look at the wiring diagram they sent me in order for me to convert my wiring harness from Euro spec to USA spec. but the color codes still do not match, I am working with JETT tuning to get this resolved since I am unsure if the Euro spec and Canadian spec wiring harnesses are the same and have the same color codes. My ECU should be here in the mail today. I really hope this ECU reflash gets rid of the HI TEMP that is displayed so I can start my bike and enjoy the last few weeks of riding weather here in Canada. For those that think I may have a bad Temp Sensor I have already cleaned and tested it and it checks out perfectly fine. I don’t think the ECU is fried because it would display err_1 and err_2 codes which are not being displayed although I could be wrong. Has anybody else had the HI Temp warning displayed that would not let you start your bike? Keep in mind this "Hi Temp Display" warning is completely unrelated to high heat temperatures, my bike has been sitting in a very cool garage for almost a month with this problem. Any help, advice or direction would be greatly appreciated and maybe we can help others that are having this frustrating problem. I have contacted the dealer and all they want me to do is spend a ridiculous amount of money to have my gauges, ECU, Wiring Harness, Immobilizer and Keys replaced. But I have read this doesn’t always fix the problem. Let me know if it helps if I post pictures, and I apologize if I am missing any details.
Thank you
