What are you trying to extort him for something?

I seriously doubt that the value of the bike has decreased much if any for a non moving drop.

you cannot... I never let anyone touch my baby unless I know they are willing to pay for any damage... me and my friends have this great thing going.... I don't want to ride your bike so don't want to ride mine...

unless this person offers.... your kinda screwed...

thats it? just enough to fix it? Is there somewhere you can look up the value of a motorcycle, or somewhere that tells you the value decrease if you drop a bike? :ugh
My bike is invaluable to me...that's all I know...:fact :dollar :riding

True but that is subjective. All that can happen between these two is for them to negociate payment and repair. This 'drop' isn't going to affect the performance of the bike and shouldn't damage any major parts either...just cosmetic damage. If it was taken to an insurance adjuster for 'devaluation' he'd probably just laugh at them both.

so if you have 2 identical bikes one has been dropped the other hasnt. which one are you gonna want?
Depends on how it got dropped...

A drop at speed I wouldn't want. A drop in the parking lot at a dead stop wouldn't deter me as long as effort was made to either devalue based on the necessity to replace the damaged parts or the parts were replaced prior to purchase.

You only charge your friend for stuff you need to replace, not for a decrease in value for being dropped. If you're anal and you want every scratched fairing replaced and your barends and mirrors too then so be it , but you'll probably lose a friend and not get sheot. You should have had sliders on , if not then get some. But if you must charge your friend then the only thing he should pay for is what was damaged.

I agree with Wolf-R1. There are two different types of drops.

If the guys pays to have it fixed then I wouldn't be concerned about any lost value. It wouldn't be any different if you dropped it and paid to have it fixed. I would definitly stay away from ins companies though. There are very few people I trust to ride my bike, its a mutual thing. I would specify factory parts only!
