This weekend I got her up to 181 MPH at about 11,000 RPM. I did change the gearing to match the 03 R1 but other than that its a pretty stock bike (besides the M4 exhaust). I was just wondering how fast had you guys gotten it up to minus NOS or too many upgrades.

with your gearing changed, have you calibrated your speedo?? (yellowbox, speedohealer, etc... ) I've had mine to 180 myself and if you do a search there is a whole thread on here about this. I guess the speedo only goes to 189, but stock is off 10-15% so it's still pulling. Stock i think the top true speed is around 185.

Good point...I bought the bike with it mapped and gearing changed... But its very possible that it could have been off. But it still is good for braggin rights though...

Held mine at 299 Km's for about 6 or 7 secs. , then I let off, ran out of straight road. Not sure how fast it was after the 299, but I still had a few revs left, and it climbed to 299 steadily without backing to 298,299,298 like some bikes do. My eyes felt like they were going to rip right out of the sockets, damn I need a new shield for my helmet !!!

I've had mine up to 295 (183mph or so) and I'm on a 2003. The 04's will hit 299km/h (186mph-189) on the speedo easily if you really hammer it just like r1 outcast posted.

On satuerday night I saw 189 mph and the tach was still climing. On the dyno at around 13,500 the bike showed 189 and the dyno was reading 186, off of the rev limiter at 14,500 and it was at 207 mph. I wish I had a scanner to post everything.

With GPS 04 R1's get 182 or so. 03 models usually in the 174 range with basic mods..

Without GPS the indicated numbers are useless - can be off by more than 15mph at those speeds...
I was going to mention to post up GPS pics.

The indicated # is all BS, most guys won't look at their speedo / tach at high speeds + the 'fudge' factor.

181 indicated with a tooth down in front would be a heck of a lot less than 181 mph. Mount a GPS unit and go make another run.

Shortly after getting mine, I pulled the trigger. The speedo stops reading at 189 mph indicated, but the bike continues to accelerate as evidenced by the tachometer continuing to slowly climb. They feel kind of anemic at that speed, nothing like the Hayabusa.
