mods please move to How To threads, thanks

WTF, the directions are supplied to tap into the TPS right. Well theres two TPS sensors, one is on the right (throttle side) the other the left. My instinct say install on the throttle side, as its closer to the throttle. but the picture shown clearly shows it clip'd into the left side sensor.

Anyone have some input, i will call Bazzaz tomorrow but its a pain in the azz between work and Time differance.

Thanks,

later tonight i will put up a how too, bazzaz's instructions were pretty good for the 09, but ill put one up anyway with some more zoomed out pics of where everything is.

You know that the damn instructions say on the Right side of the throttle body, then it shows a pic of the one on the left (clearly as it has it next to the frame and no throttle lever in sight! its also not in between 2 tb's but on the end of a side) I guess its either do as i say, or do as i do WTF

Called Bazzaz today and it is supposed to be on the left. Makes sense since they probably added the new pics and cut and copy the tps instruction from last year.

Anyway here is an addition to there instructions. What Bazzaz gave was more than enought (especially with the clarification) but i will throw in some farther out pics so you get the locations, then just refer to there instruction on which wires to tap etc.

1. Start by taking off the tank. The bolt up top over the tank cover, the two on the sides. The tank will prop up and remove the green and white plugs, unfit the rubber hoses (2x) and remove the fuel line by sliding the clip away and depressing the green clip. (mine was off along time ago so no pics)

2. Remove the top portion of the air box 10x screws along the outer edge. Unplug the Upper injector cable from the left side of the frame. un hook the fuel line(orange clip)

3. Pull the top silver bar out of its holder (it holds the variable intakes in). I have circled it in GREEN where the bar would be. Then lift the upper injectors out, they will remove from the u hooks also in GREEN

4. Undo the six bolts which hold the lower airbox in place. They are triangulated on the two left and two right intakes. Circled in RED the first three.

5. Now unplug the cable which controls the variable intake motor from the left side near frame. right next to the upper injectors. Remove lower airbox by popping out the ram air funnel (just squeez the front and back of funnel to remove.

6. Remove the ram air funnel. (hint now you can do your AIS block off if needed)

1. Now begine removing the lower injectors one at a time RED. they are green 3 pin connectors. The furthest to the left is the 1st, and the longest bazzaz cable will go to the throttle side.

2. Your upper injectors will be found on the left side YELLOW its the white clip, and has two green ones right next to it. the female end will remain unplugged until you reasemble the upper airbox.

3. The crank position sensor will be found below the throttle side throttle bodies on the right BLUE. It will be electrical taped to the main harness, its a two pin black plug.

1. The nuetral and speed sensors are in the bundle circled in YELLOW. Your neutral switch is a one pin black clip.

2. the speed sensor is a three pin black connector. (*note* if you have a speed healer then connect the speed sensor side to the speedo healer, then the speedo healer to the bazzaz, then bazzaz to main harness. the speed sensor side is the one going into the bundle female connector i think. the harness side is inside the bundle.)

Also in the bundle will be a white one pin, a white six pin, and a black two pin that are not used and left stock.

3. attach your ground to the crank case ground circled in RED Make sure you re attach the other two grounds that were already there.

1. YELLOW is tailight clip. mine is a after market but i did not remove the stock end going to the harness. If you had to just trace it back until you find the correct colored wire, or trace back from the tailight itself.

You can run the power to any line that runs the volts only under key, or when the key is turned. (headlights, running lights etc)

1. Now run your wires up the left side. I pulled the main harness sheath out and popped it open. cut off the electrical tape and it will spread out. neatly tuck the cable in, and start to fasten from the tail end first with zip ties. take your time adjusting and dont clamp it in large intervals as the wired get wiggly. This will allow you to put it back in stock form nice and neat, and wont give the tank a chance to crush it. *Leave the last zip tie kinda loose on the throttle body end as its a really hard fit, the rest will fit like a glove.

if you had the speedo healer run that up the throttle side, it doesnt like interferance from the main harness and the fuel boxes screw it up too.

2. Unplug your O2 and slid the plug end out the side of the frame, and wiggle it out like the 3rd pic shows.

3. Here is the unplugged o2 connector, it will remain like this.

4. The only other plugs you should have left open are the femal end to the Upper Injectors (white), the female end (green) to the ram air, and the male end (white) to the variable intake motor. Also the fuel tank plugs (2 rubber hose, one green one white and fuel line.

Check the picture in post number 7. When installed mine I connected the CPS wires to the wrong ones. You have to make sure you are putting the wires on the correct side of the specific plugs. Like with the CPS on the forward side of the plug the wires are all gray on the other side of the plug they are blue and gray. The CPS is spliced into in the gray wire on the back side of the plug that has the blue and gray wire. I hope this helps. Go back and check everything to make sure it hooked up to the right plugs and right color wires. If all else fails call Bazzaz they will help with you anything and everything. Those guys are great.

So, I went throught all the wiring and inspected all the T taps. Everything looks good as far as wiring. Went to ride the bike after checking the map was fine on the laptop software. My bike started jerking again in all gears at lower RPMs. I was barely able to make it home because the bike kept dying at slow speed. I immediately hooked it up to my laptop with the bike off and noticed the TPS gauge was showing random erratic numbers. It was showing anywhere from 90 to about 280 jumping back and forth rapidly. I let the bike cool down for about 3 hours and checked the gauge again, this time it read 0. Maybe the engine heat is affecting the wiring that is T tapped into the TPS? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! thanks

that sounds really bad man. i have no idea what to tell you other than it sounds like you should call bazzaz. Like i said before about one of my t taps being connected to the wrong wire. i called bazzaz got it figured out and then it all ran smooth as butter on a warm piece of bread. when it was wired wrong the bike didnt run weird i just couldnt get it to read in the software. I have heard of some people ruining the bazzaz unit because the power t tap came loose while riding. maybe that happened to you? i hardwired the t tap that powers the bazzaz to prevent this from happening to mine. it freaked me out to think of my 700 dollar unit dying over a freakin t tap.

thanks for all the feedback guys, I forgot all about this post.

Karma definately sounds like something could have gone wrong with your zfi. Good idea to let bazzaz check it out.

the afm is terrific, my map was nearly spot on after i took it in to dyno (just needing some work from 11.5k up)

Same thing happened with me... Got all my goodies and had an appointment at the dealer to have both of those issues taken care of. My dealer was cool with it. The service tech actually commented on my set-up (graves titanium y pipe and yoshi trc's sound awesome!) They did my cct and he looked at my headlights and said man your sh!t is f'ed up... My headlight assembly was melted along with bubbling on the cowling and my bike never sits in the sun so he put on a pair of 2010 assemblies with the frosted lenses and he put on a 2010 cowl to match the 2010 fairings I have on my 09. I hope your dealer is like mine.

Napier it all depends on the dealer. my dealer asked me how he's supposed to stay in business if he tattles to yamaha about every guy with a modded bike? If the dealer is cool, he will say nothing about the aftermarket parts when it comes to warranty work. he does have a good point, why would he say anything? its less business for him.
