Well got my tail light back today from Custom LED. Also helped them out by fitting the prototype light assy to my bike to check the fitting. I have to say they did a damn nice job on my tail light and the prototype fits damn good too. The light is very bright both turn signals and brake/tail light.

They also included there flasher relay so I could check that on the 09 too. It took me a while to find the damn stock relay its behind the instrument panel. The retro grade boards should be out soon and hopefully not long after that the full light assemblies so keep checking Custom LED's website.

Those guys did a damn nice job on the light and were very easy to deal with I highly recommend them.

Really?? Balls to that. They make the thing harder to find on each model...they really don't want you modifying that thing. On the 06 it was right under the seat. On the 07-08 it's hidden underneath the PCM.

I like the way the 09 taillight is wider and gives you more area for the signal.

im looking at getting this shipped to the uk for my 09 , do you know if i will need the flasher relay or will i be able to order just the tail light ? there site confused me a little as it said the "Sure-Blink Technology" insures there Tail Lights are designed to follow the turn signal commands of the motorcycles flasher relay. This insures it is compatible with all after market and OEM flasher relays , which makes me think it will work fine with my stock unit but then it reccomends using there after market flasher unit ? please help as i have emailed them and not had a response ...

cheers

Alister,

If you want to slow your OEM blinkers to DOT you will need to install the Custom LED ELFR-1 on your system. Please verify compatibility first on your own as this is not a US Spec bike. Your flasher relay is behind the gauge cluster. If you remove the windscreen you can see it.

If you don't mind the fast blink rate that you currently have, you will not need to do anything. The 09 R1 Blaster-X boards have a built in Stage I Load Equalizer to prevent the no-blink condition.

I just got mine from Mccoy and I love this tail light...with the fender eliminator it really cleans things up.

Diel11- Did you install a toggle switch on yours to switch up the patterns? I didnt do this part yet.
