Just an FYI guys. Obviously we all know the R1M Electronic damper is completely useless but I really didn't feel like dropping $600 CAD
for an ohlins. I emptied the water (oil) out of the stocker and replaced it with 10w...no better, 15w...no better, I said eff it and went to 5w30 Castrol synthetic lol.
She's stiff now! It's pretty much identical to the ohlins I had on my MV F4 on full hard. I did a side by side comparison and they feel identical. Can't wait to try it.
$599.50 saved is $599.50 earned.

It's going to be deactivated by Nick when he does the ECU flash. Having a night to sleep on it I think that 5w30 motor oil was likely not the best choice so I swapped it out for 25 weight hydraulic oil from the farm. It's a tad less resistant than before but still light years better than stock. And since it really is just a hydraulic cylinder, that oil should be just fine.

How does it feel when bike is stationary?
Is there more stiction than stock
Is the bike heavier to steer when stationary?
When on the move, how does she feel and handle?

Reason I am asking, as I know these 2015+ R1's are equipped with electronic steering dampers that are speed sensitive and controlled by the ECU...so the faster you go, it should quell tank slappers while accelerating hard or riding normally on bad roads.

I do want to upgrade to an Ohlins manual type but if your simple fix works well, then I may go that direction too.
