I wish I had done it sooner. I took it out on the test ride as soon
as I it put back on. Right away I could tell a difference. The bike
felt so much more flickable. I took some mild sweepers near the
house to scrub them in then increased the speed and it felt like I
was back on my 600 again. These Bridgestone BTO-12ss are
some awesome rubber. All I've ever ran were the Dunlop 208's.
I may not get the mileage I did on the Dunlop's, but we will see
what the 12ss do. A sticky tire for sure. I really can't even tell
much of a difference it width either from the 180 to the 190. Hell,
lower price, less weight and better lean in and exit in the twisties
with the 180. I'm sold!!! Now, I'm ready for Deal's Gap in June
with some fresh rubber.

His rotors are probably on the floor because he does not want the tire changer to bend them as many have !! I always pull my fronts. I have seen this done numerous times. trust nobody this even has happend at dealerships. Why go through the bs of trying to prove it . Unless of course you know who is doing the job. :)

I love the 180 in the 208gp. I just got a screamin deal on a set that is a 190/60 in the rear.. Anyone ever tried this size ? I know in the latest Cycleworld, they couldnt fit that size on the R1 because of the swingarm, but that was the size they wanted to run. I am going to get them on soon. I need them on with some practice before Laguna gets here..

Ding Ding Ding!!! You hit the nail right on the head. :fact I paid
a bike shop {not the dealer} to mount my tires. He did them for
$15.00 each. I've never used him before and was not going to
take any chances. He did a super job too.

Another one swerves into the truth.

A while back, I had occasion to talk to the head of Pirelli/Metzler's motorcycle road racing technical department. He said that the only reason for the 190/50 size is because motorcycle consumers that don't know any better are reluctant to buy a tire (or a motorcycle that comes with a tire) that is the same size as a 600. I asked him point blank if the 190/50 was just for posers, and he laughed and said "yes".

I don't think I've ever talked to anyone that tried a 180 and honestly thought that the 190/50 handled better.

The biggest difference is on corner exit speeds. The 180 puts down so much more rubber than a 190/50. You can get on the throttle earlier and harder to exploit that additional traction, without spinning up the rear tire as easily.

I dirt-tracked my Hayabusa around with the stock 190/50 until it was worn out, and when I went to the 180, I suddenly became much much faster.

I love the Carbon Scorpion race can. It goes great with my sliver
and black '03. It's not the loudest can out there, but it does have
a sweet tone throughout the powerband. I get lots of compliments on it. Plus, that high mount looks killer too.

KirkP, thanks for the positive comments. What you say makes a
lot of sense with people thinking of a 1000cc bike should have a
larger tire than a 600cc bike just because it has a larger engine.
I'll be giving that corner exit some work outs over the next month
or so.

Gotta go there myself....soon. What kind of deal did you get and where did you get them?
I paid a total of $214.00 for the set shipped to my door. I got
them at www.swmototires.com I ordered them on a friday night
and they were at my door Tuesday when I got home from work.
Not bad from New Mexico to Florida. Shipped via UPS.

Holy friggin jeebus!

I went out and got a michelin pilot h2 180/55 put on today....I cant believe the difference changing the tire size has made. I almost laid the thing down on my first turn, thinking it would only be a slight handling difference. Man was I wrong! My bike seriously dives into the turns now and i burned up my kneepads on the inagural ride up the canyon. Thanks guys, for posting this thread! Truly, anyone who drives even slightly hard should make the switch. A+++

Skeeter, I can't believe you doubted me :lol. It's been over a year since I revealed the truth to you about 180's.

BTW Pucks are gettin way too expensive and I'm switchin to kneepads pretty soon.
