After riding a 2003 r6 for 10 months, I went and bought a used, high mileage 2004 r1.

What im wondering is what all i should check on it? Replace? It has 28000 miles.
I know the valve clearance? needs to be checked. But what else should i do besides that.

Man what a difference in the r6 to r1, I think im going like it! :)

Welcome to the forum.

You can download the service and owners manual here and follow the recommended maintenance schedules and parts to be replaced. You may consider running the VIN by any authorized Yamaha dealer for prior service history or warranty work if at all to get a better picture of the mechanical condition of the bike. 28K is not a lot of miles for a well cared for R1.:thumbup

Well after couple months, have gone over the whole bike. Valves checked ok!
Went ahead and did the plugs, filter, brakes, clutch, chain, sprockets, coolant, brake fluids, clutch cable, stacks and block offs from rothjl749
And some other stuff(powercommander, seat, taillight, etc) from the awesome sellers on this forum :thumbup

And not to mention all the hours reading over the repair manual, and hoping I wouldn't F*** something up! Look forward to hanging out here, learning and buying things!

We had a 60 degree day here in bama, me and my dad went for a ride, first ride since its been back together!
