Fellow Riders, :riding

I've been trying to find articles on the gas mileage one gets from a 2006 R1 (or just R1's) in general.

First, how many miles can you go on a single tank of gas on a R1 (roughly)?

Second, how many gallons of gas does each full tank have?

Third, how many miles per gallon does one get on one of these R1 bikes?

Thanks! :)

I usually average 32-35 MPG, but I have gotten 40 before just cruising no hard riding. The gas light will come on at 120 miles or so meaning you have .9 gallons left so all together you can probably get about 150 out of a tank..ive made it to 170 before but again it was really easy riding , just cruising..if you ride the bike like you stole it your gas light will probably come on ebver 100-120

light comes on, fill up, ride, light comes on, fill up, ride, and so forth and so on.

If you're looking for fuel economy then get this R1....

Sounds about right... I comute on mine, ride hard and average 35mpg. Light comes on at 125 miles. R1 is the worst on gas of any of the "liter bikes" I've had. The old ZX11 was 200 pounds heavier and had carbs instead of FI. It got 40 to 45mpg. Go figure. Not like you could run higher gearing. But I'm not about to trade! I do love this bike.

yeah I doubt that my Buddy's repsol 1000rr usually gets MAYBE 100 miles to a tank..my 600rr gets 120- reserve starts blikning I'll make it to 130 if I'm nice.
My 06 R1 goes to 145 then the reserve starts a count down (which is better than a guage) I suspect once its loosened up a bit I'll get better gas mileage(500 miles now) Hot weather will also lead to poorer fuel mileage...

:iamwithst It's kinda like that old saying "If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it" If you have $10,000+ to buy a toy, gas shouldn't be a deciding purchase factor. But I suppose asking out of curiousity is OK :thumbup
