Background info: I just bought an '07 for $6200. I could have gotten an '06 if I had been patient for the same price or just under. The '07 I have needs a piece of plastic and some paint here and there. The '06 had flush mounts and some other visual mods and looks bloody great. It was never laid down.

But the one I picked up still has the same basic mods (windscreen, integrated tail light) plus rear-sets and that was a mod I would definitely have done (I'm tall). So in the end I guess I will have only paid a little bit more for my '07.

I had already read the reviews on the '07 so had a good feeling it was worthwhile....but this side by side comparison really made me feel better.

The '07 is a better built bike than the '06 in a lot of pretty important ways. Higher end and better engineered parts.

I'm happy again.

Someone should make a comparison chart of every year of R1. The FJR forum has one for every year of FJR. Maybe over the Christmas break if Im bored I'll do the same type of comparison for the other years of R1.

Anyway, just wanted to share that comparison of the '06 and '07 in the hopes that it proves a handy little chart for someone out there.

Honestly, the looks thing is like getting into a debate of who is hotter....a smoking 10/10 italian girl or a smoking 10/10 spanish girl.

They're both hot, but some might like the spanish girls thighs and the way they flow into her hips and the way her hips integrate seamlessly into her undertail exhaust.....

and some might like the sharper nose on the italian girl.

The difference is minimal and we are all horny men. So I say to hell with it haha.

I think that the linked site is not a yamaha official one in any way....
it's uncompleted ... 06/07 are the only bikes listed?!
there you can download the manuals and that's a good thing for sure but it confirms that it's not an official yamaha related site!

They are so close in looks, with from what I can tell mainly the difference is the way the front end is done. I could go either way on the intakes, or really even the lights. However from the side I like the 04-06 better with the less pointy snout. If I had to choose between which to ride I'd choose 07-08, though (and if I could get my hands on it I'd pick the white/red EU scheme...it played a role in my choice for my 09's color).

i love them both, but slightly favor the 07-08 cause it looks a little more refined and aggressive....the 09 is a little more conservative again, but looks nice and clean lines without the chunky stock mufflers....

I DO NOT LIKE THE STOCK STYLED HEAT SHIELD ON THE 07-08 HOWEVER....

The main reason I didn't get 06-08 is because they didn't offer Ravens. (those pics in the OP of all black do look good though)

I still remember the first time I saw an 04 Raven, up until that time I was deadset on a CBR, but once I saw it I talked about if for years until I bought this 06.
