hello everyone im new to forum and this is my first yamaha which I love by the way. Its got a full graves system aftermarket filter pc3 with ignition module and quickshifter plus 1 tooth on rear sprocket ceramic wheel bearings and lowered an inch but the bike still has the 1st thru 3rd throttle restriction and its using the dynojet map. I was going to send the ecu out to lift those restrictions but then I started to think maybe that reduced throttle at low rpms actually helps this bike because i can go basically full throttle in 1st n 2nd without the wheel flying up on me and it doesn't take long to get to 7000rpm to get full throttle really lol. I'm just a street rider but I love doing highway pulls with friends and so far even with the restrictions from a 20 mph first gear roll I've gapped an 07 cbr1000rr - 09 R1 - 12 zx10r and 15 gsxr1000. The 09 R1only has a slip-on but the other 3 are modded similar to mine with there ecu flashed. Is there anyone with an 08 or 07 that had there restrictions lifted and it actually made it sketchy pounding the throttle meaning now you had to baby it to keep the front down

or is getting that restriction lifted forsure the way to go?

seems like a dumb question but I was just curious about how guys with the same bike felt about it after they took that 1st thru 3rd gear restriction off. A friend of mine had a 2018 gsxr 1000 and he sold it simply because he couldn't keep the front down at all in 1st and 2nd gear and he would lose to bikes he should beat simply because he had to pamper it so much.

I have an 06', with similar mods to yours. And I can't say if that restriction was lifted, but my bike will lift up on me consistently if I hammer the throttle in 1st or 2nd gear. Unless you're just wanting that power, or wanting to show off, I'd say leave it.

I'm pretty sure the 06 doesn't have the same restriction. 07 08 they put that throttle by wire system and implemented that restriction into the ecu. I hope next season to be able todo some track days for for now ive just been street riding with friends and we have a nice road in the middle of nowhere where we all meet up and do some straight line racing up to half mile before we need to let up and because some of the newer bikes have to baby it so much at first I've beat everyone cause by the time they can really put the power down im already into that famous R1 Power Band. Im going to by a used 08 ecu from eBay and get it flashed that way if i feel that bike actually suffers down low with getting the restrictions lifted I can change back easily. thx for the reply.

Definitely get the 08 flashed. My buddy has an 08 with yoshimura slip ons with a y pipe & after the flash our race was a lot closer against my 05 R1. Your bikes is very restricted with the variable velocity stacks & the intake throttle butterflies.

2004 to 2006 R1s are not restricted like the 07 or 08 R1s. With all your mods your should wheelie off on throttle in 1st & 2nd gear very easy. You may have an issue with your maps.

thanks for the reply thats what i was hoping for was someone who had any type of experience with this specific bike. I can see the previous owner is just using one of the dynojet maps from there website. The bike also has the ignition module with the power commander but I don't think he ever changed the timing i think he just got that to use the quickshifter cause when i go into the power commander control center i don't see anything about the ignition module or making adjustments. Ordered another ecu today so it'll be cool to get one flashed and a map put in and the other maybe actually dynotune it and save the map on the power commander.

Check to if a map is on the ignition module. If a map exists disconnect it & see how she rides. Try a dynojet map that fits your setup also.

for some reason the power commander isn't showing anything about the ignition module even being hooked up to it. I checked in the power commander 3. I can see he's using and Akropovic full system map but nothing about ignition or anything shows up. I know he probably bought the ignition module so he could use the quickshifter and the power commander sees there a quickshifter hooked up but not the ignition module.

I'm call dynojet and see what going on with that cause if I get a flash n tune I need to zero out the power commander map and the ignition module map if there is one so they don't butt heads wirh the tune on the ecu i think right?

When you hook up the ignitionn module controller to the power commander it kind of daisy chains to it in either one of the USB ports on the power commander. But on the ignition module end you have to put the power commander circuit ending thing in the free port on the ignition module (the last add on in the series of modules. ) in one port or the other on the ignition module end...it doesn't matter really how they're hooked together or what port you use as long as the last one has that block off looking port clip thing in one port and the USB tethering the two in the other. I forget what they call it. But the last add on, in your case ignition module, won't work right without it

I've got the older pc3 USB and the pc3 USB ignition module which connects different then the newer pcv. It was all on the bike when I bought it. Now ive got the ecu flashed I still kept all that stuff hooked up so I could keep the quickshifter but I zeroed out the map on the pc3 so it dont interfere with the tune from the flash. I plan on getting a stand alone quickshifter so I dont need all that piggyback stuff tho. Bike runs great and is definitely harder to handel now that I'm getting 100% throttle instead of 60% till 7000rpm lol.

Sportbike unlimited. Cold start it it seems to act a little weird for about 2 minutes then idles nice and its a night and day difference in power and low rpm get up n go lol. my buddy with a 2015 gsxr 1000 has a full system ecu flash and it was a good race but I still had that gear and rpm based restriction and I still won every time by a bike or 2 even when we did expressway pulls from 30 to 180 mph i was always in front. Him and I are going to run em again to see how much I beat him by after the flash. I will say this for a 2008 this bike still runs with bikes much newer in straight line acceleration. Was thinking about doing the 520 conversion also but is it really worth it?
