What's the front sprocket size?

 

maybe you have a smaller front sprocket for example a 16 or 15 tooth , this will give you a speedo reading thats wrong unless a speedo healer is installed. the stock front sprocket is a 17 tooth on your bike, i have the same bike and have just put a 16 tooth front on and my speedo is not reading correct. atb gareth although putting on a smaller front would probably increase the speedo reading but the actuall speed you are doing would be less ???? anyone else got any ideas

Actually the speedo will read up to 189,both of mine do. Not that it is going that fast, I can get my '06 to read 161 in 4th gear. If you can't go past 161 with the throttle wide open in 6th gear and lots of room you definitely have a problem.

 

 

Maybe check the accuracy of the Speedo? My '02 was faster than that stock.
