I had these installed, prior to Darrin, but lagged on posting them up, since the original parking LED's that were included in the A & R kit http://aandrmotorsport.com/ , were failing (Rob is working on getting other LED's, and I also recommended the some company, LEDTronics to him). So I called Gregg at Gregg's Customs and he recommended that I try LEDTronics http://www.ledtronics.com/ and after contacting them, I got good reliable LED's so I could take some photos of the whole thing done together and working, didn't want the yellow dingy OEM parking bulbs with the HID kit, it didn't look proper.

Heres the HID kit from A & R MotorSports http://aandrmotorsport.com/:

There were no instructions for the '07 R1 install and it took me a bit of time to get the ballasts to fit under the windscreen, and after try and try again, I finally got it and would like to share how they fit:

HID H7 vs. Regular H7:

I ran the harness on the left side (sitting on bike, your left hand side, clutch lever side of the bike, see the wire loom):

Here are the LEDTronics parking LED's http://www.ledtronics.com/ or if you have any questions, just contact them directly through there contact page:

A few (Daytime) pics of the completed work:

HID's (look more blue, due to them warming up) & LED's in action:

HID's now warmed up:

Side by side shots of stock vs HID/LED (no photoshopping or editing, my buddies stock '07 R1 on the left and my HID/LED '07 R1 on the right):

Now where it matters most, a few nightime shots:

HID at startup:

After the HID's warm up, the light is a nice white/slight blue, (not as blue as above, more white) but provides far superior lighting over the OEM bulbs:

From a distance:

I am really happy with the performance of this kit and since I have vehicles with HID's, I had to have it on my R1, this is money well spent. Basically nightime is now just like daytime (if you know what I mean) because of the light output provided with this setup. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM or post up.

Hapy Easter Everybody!!!

Whats the part number for the LED parking lights at that website you mentioned? I cant seem to locate em.

thanks

I have the direct link, and it doesn't seem to be working right now, they might be doing server maintenance or whatnot, but this is what I had, it might come up later:

http://www.surplusled.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=LED194T13-6W-12V&Category_Code=_AUT

If that link doesn't work, click the home page: http://www.ledtronics.com/ , scroll over products and then a drop down list will appear and then click on Automotive Products, it will take you here: http://www.ledtronics.com/markets/auto_index.htm. Then click on the T3.25 9mm Wedge Based Bulbs, or just click here: http://www.ledtronics.com/ds/AUT67/default.asp#9mmwedge, its the one in the middle, Series WF3126 and they come in White, Blue, Red and Green. I am using this Part #: LED194T13-6W-12V

You'll have to check with sales, on this page it states something about minimum order is 2 and thats what you need anyways for the parking lights on the R1. The first link I mentioned is a different site of theres and it does have individual single sales, hopefully it will come back up soon. Either way, you'll be able to get them from them directly, on one site or the other.

I've also just now sent LEDTronics an e-mail to confirm an easier link for ordering purposes, if anyone is interested and I'll post it up as soon as I get that.

Here's the scoop, there .com site expired and now there rebuilding there surplus led site as a .net and that will take sometime, so in the meantime, per Jordon at LEDTronics:

For now they could call in and ask for Yolanda in SurplusLED sales dept to
order the LED's that you used, but they need to know the part
number of the LED they want to buy. 800-579-4875

For the LED's that I am using, heres the part #: LED194T13-6W-12V

Let me know if there are any issues at all and I will look into it ASAP.

so how much is it for just two????

#28 ·
Before the surplus site went down, I want to say that they were $3.95 each, which is far better than the PIAA alternative that I was looking at which was over $20.00. Anyways, double check by calling that number that I provided earlier above.

I just ordered the leds now I have to get the HID's you guys always make me spend money lol just my excuse.....

I'm pretty sure that the earlier R1"s use the 194 bulb as well for the parking indicator, and as the '07 does. Can anyone confirm this? If it does then the part # is the correct LED for your application as well.

So how much were the LED's anyways, so to let everyone else know as well?

I hope I purchased the right ones.... What kelvin did you get those hid's and in the pic is your high beam on? because on the picture from the side facing the instrument cluster there looks like there is a reflection of the high beam light.

Nice avatar by the way.

I got the 6,000 Kelvin Kit. My high beams were never own in those pics. If your referring to where its a pic of the bike from behind, and you see a slight light, those are the LED's (parking indicator) only. If your looking at my cluster, that green, is just the indicator of the bike being in Neutral. And the blue that you see being reflected off of my painted windscreen is just the cluster reflection, no high beams are on, otherwise you would see a big yellow tinge in the pics.

Hope that helps, or clarifies it, if not just let me know.

Peace.

Thats cool, Super Bright was one other vendor that I contacted, but they declined to send any product samples so I could post up the info in this thread. LEDTronics was a direct referral from Gregg's Customs and I used them since I had a great recommendation from Gregg and they sent samples as well, and these have lasted far longer than anything that I have used up to today. Basically with the A & R MotorSports HID Kit, the LED's that were provided free of charge in there kept on failing (going dead) and I had to replace them like 3 times on each side and put new LED's in and I even dropped the stock OEM 194 bulbs on the ground a few times and they still worked. For some reason the A & R LED's kept on failing, but he's working on getting a better replacement to be part of the kit.

I don't back up products that I don't test out or review first hand, but if those LED's from Super work out for you and they don't go dead after your first ride, then please post up here and let us know, since they are cheaper than what I recommended. Personally, I think the extra buck or two is worth the fact that I don't have to worry about having one or both go out on me and having to replace them again and again (knocks on wood). I believe the A & R ones were based for Automotive purposes, but for the interior of a vehicle, and kept on failing due to the heat/vibration etc since they were being used for a different purpose than what they were designed for.

Try out the Super Bright ones and let us know how they work out for you.

The more options the better!!!

By the way Cali07, i wanted to thank you for your write up on this. I was on the fence about HID's, but after you posted up and had pics , i ordered my 6000k kit and installed it last weekend , it rocks. Couple of the guys i ride with mentioned they were amazingly bright last night, then they made me right up front. :rock
