i usually dont have a problem smoking any car... but last summer this guy in a bmw z8 gave me a real good run up to about 150 then we hit traffic.i think if we had more room he would have smoked me!!

you serious man? My good buddy's dad has a z8...we always talk about how our bikes could still smoke the car regardless of it's 125,000 dollar price tag...was it from a standstill or a roll on? And was the car ahead of you the whole time? Or were you neck and neck?

Theres a vid of an M5 racing a Gixxer 600 and they're going neck and neck but the bike gives up, and all the while an R1 is following with a tank cam...once the bike starts to give up, the r1 guns it and he pulls up behind the M5 like it was nothing...

 

it was from a roll on at about 70 mph. neck n neck ,but ill take the r1 for $115,000 less.

I lost a race to a heavily modified 69 Camaro. We measured off approximatley a quarter mile with a big tape measure that went 500ft at a time. We both lined up on a wide deserted road in an industrial park that has a main entrance road that is a little over a mile in a straight line. It was a friend of mine and he just wanted to guage his performance on the mods that he did to his camaro before he took it to the drag strip.

The Camaro had a 383 stroker heavily modified, with a 100 shot of NOS. I was riding my FZR1000 at the time. The only mods I had done on it were a D&D slip-on, Stage 2 Jet kit, and K&N filter. My FZR was making about 136 HP.

We had a neutral person do the start by waving a white flag. I took him off the start by about 2 bike lengths, and then he started pulling on me, and as he went by I heard the motor in his Camaro just sucking down the NOS. He beat me by about a full car length.

My jaw just hit the ground. I had never been beaten like that on a bike before.

No, I had to merge and wouldn't be able to stop in time. I could have easily kicked his ass. I just didn't want to risk an accident for a race...I still have SOME common sense left

 

Well, lets put it this way. There is an 1/8 mile track where I live. Liter bikes were running about 7 seconds, or high 6's. There were modded muscle cars out there running high 4's and 5s. No chance.:no

Then again, there is always the sweet price tag of a bike, not to mention the fun factor is off the scale compared to a car:rock

 

I don't bother with cars. You never know when someone will get pissed off. A 3,000lb+ car will always win that "race".

 

I would think you would have the best chance of beating an ultra high powered car from a stop, simply because they would have traction problems. I believe a high speed roll on definitely gives the car an advantage. I am betting that from a dead stop, a litre bike would kill Walser's supra, although he can pull on them from a roll on.

I personally don't see many 10 second cars around here, so I ain't very worried.

A while back....................

A guy in a 996 Turbo Porsche did a roll on with me from about 50mph at first I thought I had him but when I was at about 140 and did'nt have to look over too far to see him off to the right I knew I was in troubbbbbble. If it had'nt been for traffic and an offramp he'd have for sure pulled me. He gave me the :thumbup anyway. Also I had a @96 or so T/A Firehawk try me on the freeway early one morning. Moron had a girl in the car and kept surging the car next to me on the gas. I:hellobye and WOT'd it. At about 160 I backed off and waited . Moron does a flyby and I WOT'd again . After a second to catch him I glance over and he's acting like he caught me!!!!!!! So what else was I to do but beam myself out with the international gesture of solidarity:finger all while he was winding out trying to hang.

 

Last year i raced a 96 corvette calaway with the turbos we rolled on at about 30 or so I wasnt sure he wanted to race so I had to gear down I had a r6 at the time but anyway I was catching him big time but two lanes was quickly turning to one and I let off at about 95 mph any way he thought he was a bad ass but I wasnt finnished I followed him he turned onto a 4 lane hwy that was a strait stretch for at least 2 miles any way I was ready this time and at 145 he was way behind me so I let off of it and after he caught up he went flying by and waved I just :hellobye back

 

see. . . in west palm & pretty much south florida, we have issues with the cops. . . mainly because of seizures down here alot of the agencies have fast ass under cover cars, i actually had an issue where i came up to a vette and as soon as we started racing ( we go to about 95/100) he hit the lights , i got screwed royally. . . not to mention that the Florida Highway Patrol now have Gsxr 1300's. . . they can catch anyone/ anything now. . . so for everyone heading to daytona- watch out !

I have also been smoked at the track by some super pro cars, It's pretty scary lining up next to one. They start reving on the transbrake and kinda popping on the rev limiter, so damn loud you bike shakes, you can't even tell if you bike is running, then the wheels come off the ground and you are just hoping you don't get run over.

I got beat by a viper when I was out with a fellow member on the highway....but then again i did chicken out at 120mph cause the highway just hads too many turns that have small rollin up and downs and i sometimes get scared that Iam gonna catch some air time in one of those humps

 

I raced a 02 r1 in my vette. Iwe raced to the next exit. I passed him in about a mile in the 170s. Took forever to catch back up to him.

 

I am not condoning racing on the streets, but to whoever that has raced a car on the street, have you ever lost? I had quite a few runs on the highway last summer late at night with no cars around on the way home from downtown, and I haven't lost yet...this was on my GSX-R600 (1998) which I recently traded in for my 2003 R6. I never raced from a light, only a dozen roll on races...

Never!!! However my first race with a car took place against a Lamborghini with my 89' GSXR 1100, and it was pretty damn close. I still won.

My most recent was with a 02' ZO6 Vette. Standstill and roll-on. I smoked him both times. This was on my 02' R1.

 

Damn! I can't believe some of the cars you people have raced. The fastest car I ever raced was a fuckin souped up rx-7. Not too impressive:lol Anyways, great stories, keep them coming. By the way, whoever was talking about racing big muscle cars at the track and not even being able to hear yourself think, I give you props for having the balls to race one at the strip. My friends and I are always joking about how scary it would be to have one of those screaming at you right next to you. Imagine racing a top-fuel dragster? I'd probably forfeit the race to avoid having my eardrums and pride blown apart...:fact

2- I thought cops could not chase you any faster thatn 110 miles anyway.

3-I got beaten by Saleen Mustang, aroung 120-130 he flew by me, when I asked he told me that is when shot NOS. but I caught him by the causeway in traffic.

4-also I race my neighbour in his Diablo, that was close but he pussed out after 150. pretty Russian boy..ha ha

I had a Porche 911 come out of nowhere behind me while I was on a single lane highway( long straight no traffic stretch). I was doing about 75-85 scewing around bringing up 2nd gear standups when he passed me. It bugged me the way he went by me at 120 mph so I got on it and caught up to him at an indicated 150mph and he was still getting on it but I flew by his ass and dusted him with an indicated 175 mph. I kept this pace for another two miles and the fucker wasn't in sight at all. Old fucker thought he had something on the R1. He was proven wrong.
