I am overhauling my 2001 R1 and was wondering what rebuild kits yall would recommend? Also replacing all O rings from pipe joints as one was leaking, but the carbs were definitely not tuned right. The guy said he had them synchronized but that doesn't help jack sh*t if they aren't clear and tuned right. Bike ran very lean as well. Added radiator fan switch and silicone hoses when they get here. Along with the best coolant, that you guys use or have had luck with. Thanks

I’d go oem parts. There was a company called Sudco that you could get everything carb related.
stay away from Chinese crap. It’s hard enough to pull them off bike and tear them down only to have issues due to quality. Yes part by part it’s expensive from oem but at least its correct and works.

would it be fine to go ahead and use the jets that are in it? Ive cleaned them thoroughly and all look well same as many other components. I think im going to keep playing around with the jetting to get it right on the dyno at work after all is sealed up. I will be using NHBC o rings to seal up my pipe joints and hopefully that’ll do me well. Thanks for the help

So it’s always the pilots which are so small to clear out. Do you have the K&L jet cleaning tool?
Otherwise I’d figure all new . If you do have modifications to bike then there was a company called Dyno jet that we use to use but it’s been a long time since I’ve bought carb parts for street bikes.

OEM is your best choice if you don't have mods on your bike as @Jimmy boy suggested.

Almost 2 years ago I changed mines. OEM wasn't an option due to delivery time... so I went for a Tourmax rebuilt kit (number CAB-Y29), they are made in Japan and it was just ready for pick up in a local store.

The rebuilt kit fixed some strange behaviour: when pulling from standing in 1st gear at really low rpms... it was struggling when you put a bit more throttle. The rest of the gears and rpms range didn't have any trouble at all.
After more than 1000kms, this problem began to appear but not as bad as before.
I would recommend this kit, if OEM isn't available nearby.
