Hopefully some people with experience chime in here. I have a question: Ahould I brace both sides of the gap leaving a cavity? Or should I just do the outside? I'm worried about leaving that opening and it being hard to keep clean in there.

Yes. I'm leaving it unpainted like in the pictures. I will add a clear powdercoat over the natural aluminum.

So I have an idea that I thought of a while ago. I've already brought it to the welder's attention and he liked it because he rides a bike as well.

Pictured below is my bike. I want to take the piece where the chain gaurd use to screw into and have it grinded down with 2 teeth in it like a chain sprocket. This will be a place to rest the chain when the rear tire is removed for maintenance and tire changes.

I want to know what you all think......

The swingarm will be here on Septmeber 3rd by the way and it will be dropped off right away to be soda blasted.

 

Black Lightech chain adjusters will be on this silver swingarm once they are back in stock along with the silver lifters and titanium Lightech axle sliders.

 

I like the idea of making the teeth in the chain guard bracket.

 

Yeah. The welder/fabricator said he can do it. I don't think simply placing the chain on there will harm the clear powdercoat.

 

You could also buy that bracket that some of the guys on here have that helps hold the chain in place. I saved the link somewhere, just can't find it right now.

So....swingarm will be here Wednesday. I want your opinions on something...when I take the swingarm in to the painters, should I have the paint blasted from Vortex rearset pegs and clear powdercoated?

 

I would, I plan on it, gives it more SBK look

Anodizing is a finish that goes into the metal unlike paint or powder that is on the surface, it's not as straightforward to remove.

If you just want silver pegs this is definitely easier

Ok. I have another question.

I want to replace the bearings on the used swing arm I purchase. Are pivot bearings all that I need to purchase? What is a good brand to buy and where?

I'm having a shop install them for cheap.

Swingarm is here and so far, there seems to be no damage. Having it stripped some time this week. :yea:
