Check engine light after flash

Took the bike up to the mountains after getting my flashed FTecu ecu installed. after 3 or 4 mins CEL comes on with yellow light. Before it comes on throttle is actually bit weird, u can tell the more u give it gas its not as responsive as after the CEL comes on. This happens every time the bike is shut off and restarted.

I removed the Servo buddy plug prior to installing the ecu since it has been disabled. Is there a way to run diag to find out the codes stored?

Does it show a number right next to the check engine light? Is it a code 18? If yes, code 18 is a EXUP valve fault. I had the same issue when flashing my ecu with FTECU as I would check the "disable EXUP valve" when doing the flash but would still end up with the check engine light after 3 minutes of run time(that is how long the system waits before checking the EXUP servo position). I had to re-install and plug the servo in to not end up getting this error code. I would imagine if you re-install your Servo Buddy your issue will go away...

Doesn't give me a code. just Check engine light icon along with the yellow caution circle. I re-installed the servo buddy plug, but haven't ride the bike yet. I'll report back.

If you flashed your bike yourself and it is indeed the exup fault dont forget you need to modify "disable exup trouble recall"...it should be set to true.

SO i put the servo buddy back on, rode the bike for a while and engine light did not come on anymore, but the bike definitely feels like there something weird going on. When I give it slightly throttle, it has lags. Same thing was happening without the servo buddy plugged in before it threw the CEL. after CEL would come on, throttle felt fine again.

Every time I flashed(I have the hardware/cables, did it myself) and set the "disable EXUP VALVE" to true I would be the CEL 3 minuted after starting and running the bike. The only way I could get the CEL stay off was to not switch the setting on the flash to true and leaving the servo motor electrical plug connected. I opened a ticket with FTECU regarding this issue but we got nowhere and I decided it wasn't worth going back and forth about it when I could just leave the servo motor hooked up and be done with it....

That's odd! I removed my servo motor, set the disable to true and also set the disable trouble recall to true and have never had a problem or MIL activate.

Bikes been running perfect :nerd:

IIRC, the directions said not to turn the key on with the servo unplugged.
I think I left it plugged in until the programming was completed.
Turned off the key and unplugged it :grin2:

Mate not to worry. I had the same problem on my flash which i did myself. After I disconnected the servo the engine fault light came on after a couple of minutes. You need to go into your flash and click the ( disable exup valve) on and off a couple of times and at the same time to the ( exup valve fault recall) on and off. It fixed mine, I had the problem a couple of time when I treid diff maps, Once you get your map so the light doesnt come on just stick with that base map.
When you put your ecu back in after the flash just let the bike idle for a while before you put the fairings on, until your fan comes on, if the light does not come on then its fine .
When you flashed your bike it sounded like you left your OE lambda plugs in, you can leave them in but you have to disconnect the wires otherwise it will start running rough after a while.
You further need to get rid of the fault codes. if you send me a PM with your email I will send you paper how to.

Dropped off the bike at the shop. Turns out 99.9 % of my issue with the bike is because O2 Sensors are still being connected, in which case I didn't know nor I was told to unplug them. Even watching STG's video on how to installing this same exhaust, he himself plugs them back in. I will end up getting the bike dyno tuned tomorrow since it's already there. I just look on ftecu website and it doesnt mention anything about unplugging them.

Sorry, but the O2's are still used with the FT/ECU flash. Mine are plugged in and I have ZERO issue's. I'm running the Graves USA Map!

I hate it when someone tells their customers total bullshit! :bsflag:

I left my O2 sensors plugged into my new Yoshimura exhaust mid pipe, flashed with FTECU graves cat eliminator map and it's fine, no running issues. I also removed all EXUP paraphernalia and checked the box in the flash software, all is great! That stuff is just unnecessary weight, like the cat!
