Clutch is noisy when lever is pulled halfway. Why?

I just noticed that I get a pretty loud rattling from the clutch when the bike is idling and I pull the lever halfway. I called the guy I bought the bike from and he said that it is completely normal. Since the bike has been standing since October the clutch is not properly oiled up, and this noise will go away once I run it in gear for a while. I just want to hear what you guys think. Is this true?

Btw, it's snowing outside so I can't test wether he's right or wrong.

Pull the clutch in with the bike running and lean it over pretty far to the right. That will help oil it up.

Okay, so what he's saying might be true then? I'm just a little nervous, since the bike sounded like a Ducati with a dry clutch or something...

It's conceivable, but even though the clutch plates are loose when disengaged, a wet clutch should not make much noise.

i got the same noise on my 05 and my buddys is the same according to yamaha this is not a problem

it's normal :fact
just start the bike and pull the clutch lever in -out a few times and it will start to disappear .
you have dried your clutch out by neglecting the poor thing :lol.....(not riding it):scoots::yesnod

Pull it in all that way. Works better that way.
