No but I have gotten sick of the sportbike scene and the same old roads. That's why I've always had a second, less sporty motorcycle to compliment my R1. When I get bored of doing the same old thing, I jump on the FZ1 and mix it up. Do some long-range rides and exploring.

Nope...... riding is just about my whole life, lol. If I didn't ride my bike I would literally just about have no life, hahah :fact:crash I don't think I could give it up...... it's one of the few things that truly makes me happy

Best advice would be to get back on the bike and ride it good!
Felt the same after my last spill.. it only took a hard twist of the wrist to get me back in the mood. (I don't encourage speeding, but a bit of spirited riding at the right time can be fun)

The only thing I'm growing tired of is commuting. I love my bike, and I love riding it every day, but I cannot deal with cell phone wielding idiots in cars any more.

Planning on doing a track day soon, and if it works out well, and I might just retire my bike to track duty only.

No. There is a guy on my other forum who is 73. He sold his ZX14 and bought a VFR1200. Modded it and tuned it immediately. Then as soon as it was done took it to some top speed annual meet and topped the fvcker out.

Riding the twisties is relatively safe here. You couldn't pay me to commute or ride in a city. If commuting or highway riding was my only option on the street I'd get a track whore.

I think I know how you feel. This may sound strange but when I picked up an fz09 this year to add to the stable it completely rejuvenated my love for riding. I am not sure why exactly and it may be a few reasons. The 09 is just "slow", comfortable, and incredibly fun to ride. It totally reminded me why I love to ride and it has reset the fun factor for all motorcycle riding. Sounds lame I know but it's true.

I don't own a race suit and I do not feel like giving up riding. However, I do put mine in storage from about 5 months when the weather starts getting cool. The fun starts all over again the following April when I wheel it out of the basement.

I don't miss it during the downtime. Maybe a little bit of a break is all I need.

Ok, I'll be honest....Yep, and it is exactly what I did. Priorities changed, thought more about my family and wanting to be around for them for a lot longer. Just didn't feel that fire anymore and wasn't enjoying riding when I was not going 100%. There is a thread on here about my cousin Brooks who raced dirt bikes and got messed up pretty bad, broke his neck at 17 years old and most likely will be in a wheelchair his entire life. I made the choice to stop riding a few months prior to this happening. Thank god I did because there is no way I could have faced my family if I told them I was going to keep riding after his accident. With that being said I'm not trying to knock anyone's decision. Riding just wasn't for me anymore. I still love and enjoy motorcycles, just highly doubt I will ever find myself on one again.

Damn, I never knew you stopped riding. TBH i was in the same boat and might get back in. I was like you in the sense where riding casually was no fun so when we started our family i knew i had to give it up. Riding has always been my passion so i finally was able to convince the wife to let me get back(after 7 years) and I thought i convinced myself riding casually would be ok. I was wrong, its sounds gay to say but i love the rush you get from high speeds and wheelies(closed road of course). My wife and family have always been deathly against bikes and ive been thinking a lot the last month about whether or not I should keep putting myself first over my family. Hearing about your cousin really hits me hard because that is any riders fear and something that could happen anytime.

In response to op, sounds like you just got in an accident and its so true about that saying about getting back on the horse. I've been down and got back right away but i have 2 buddies who went down and never got back and tbh 1 of them has totally lost his balls to do anything remotely risky. Riding is not for everyone and if youre riding with a ton of doubt then maybe its time to stop.

i do understand what your talking about,i just recently got back into mx coming from a pro bmx career and mx racing since i was 4 and pushy parents to do the sport, which i loved them for that!...my mom and dad still go to the dunes every holiday even at 70 and 64 in their sand truck goin huge..well semi huge compared to what i do in it...and for xmas to my suprise she bought me to complete sets of gear with a card saying how much they miss me there with them...so i have been taking my supermotos and putting back on the regular wheels and riding mx again and it was a breath of fresh air!...family,sand,campfire and a sore back...it was alittle intimidating hitting my first jump out there since i broke my back out there thanksgiving 2003 but everything worked out and im goin again on prez day.guess what im saying i got alittle sick of street riding and how cops are with bikes here in az accumilated some stupid tickets out here in a short amount of time which i beat both but cost me over 8k for lawyers and even video footage of a cop that had no proof of my violations...i usually dont commute but trailer my bike to the fun stuff due to all the crazy drivers here and also just stick to track riding now...that seems to keep things fresh and my drivers lic in tact...try mixing things up it will help!.....got to love the gps drone shots...gonna get real creative this prez day!...at 40 think its to late for me to quit..imo

I've had my fair share of downs on the street and offroad. I still love bikes. Dirt bikes, supermotos, rockets, and cruisers. I plan to get my R1 and once that is paid off get a nice cruiser or a supermoto. I've seen my friends get into major accidents right in front of me and sometimes they were at fault but most of the time it was the other person that was at fault. I ride as if everyone else on the road is out to kill me. I will not sit in traffic, stay next to other cars, and stop right in the middle of the lane at a red light. My mom rides, my step dad rides, my girlfriend rides with me and wants her own bike, and I've been riding since I was 14. I'm still young, 23, but I don't see myself hanging it up unless I am paralyzed and have no way to ride.

1. No. Not for a second...

2. Yes...

I will never hang up the race suit as long as I am able. The track is just too much fun. Riding on the street on the other hand has really changed for me over the past 25 years. When I started, the street was my race track. I was one of those guys (squidis maximus). I low sided a lot, I learned a little, and life went on. I was single, with loads of disposable income, and very little care in the world. Now I have outgrown most of that, and still enjoy riding on the street, but for different reasons. I appreciate the scenery, the trip, and the destination more than the knee dragging, tire sliding riding of my youth. Now I save that for the track where the conditions are still plenty dangerous, but in a controlled environment, or at least as controlled as possible. Of course moving to Texas had a little bit to do with that. The roads are more dangerous here than in my old stomping grounds in SoCal. There is more odd traffic (trucks, tractors, etc.) and a lot more animals (deer, cows, squirrels, etc.) to worry about, and the roads are a not as fun to ride, at least not as convenient. I have yet to find a road anywhere close to Mulholland, and the other roads in the Santa Monica Mountains here in the Austin area. Anyway, rambling now...
