I have a 2016 r1 this will be my first tire change (purchased bike last year). And when I had my 07 r6 I always ran dunlop q3's. And always happy with that tire. As the q3 is no longer in production. I would like to try the q5s and just wanted to get some feed back if anyone has tried them. I know there are better tires on the market than dunlop. But for price point and successful past experience I've always been happy with dunlop and just wondering if I will be getting the same standard with the q5s?

I’ve run the Qs on R1 track bike & currently running Q5s on t street 2017 R6. The Q5 is the next gen from Q4S, which differs from the Q4 having a more durable center section for longer life, but still have the edge grip of the Q4. The Q3& Q4s I’ve run & been pleased w both on track. The better I’ve become the more grip I need, w/o having to go to slicks & warmers

I put a set on my 1198 for the track and I really liked them as far as grip but if your looking for a tire to get a lot of miles out of I would look for something else. The picture is after a few sessions on at a track day before getting rained out. You might get a 2k miles of normal street riding before needing to change again. IMOP very good tires lifespan is going to be short. Hope that helps!

I have tried the Q5 and the Q5S on my R6 racebike last year. the S arguably lasted a liiiiiitle longer, but they were otherwise the same.
Grip = good
feel = meh, was ok, I felt they were a little vague
wear = absolute shit. super short tire life. IMO way shorter life than a supercorsa which has at least the same grip.

I far prefer a DOT supercorsa.

Above is only my opinion so dont be all mad if your preferences are different!
