This seems like one cool stand, our ohlins have a 10mm hole below, so long as the metal nub does not hit the axle. Need some measurements.

 

I've used a triple lift with warmers for 4 seasons now. Works great and not a pain at all :dunno

The R1M has a sensor that can be crushed if you use a conventional front stand. To negate this, I bought a pit bull triple tree front, but what a pita it will be wrestling with tire warmers and a triple tree front stand!

You're over-thinking this. The triple-tree stand is fine and not a pain at all. In fact, most guys I see in the paddock use a triple-tree stand than anything else.

The only issue I have is that the cones are bare metal without any delrin or nylon cover to prevent scratching up the front suspension hole and bottom.

This stand works great btw. Despite also having a pitbull front triple stand w the correct pin, i too prefer the ease for track days of a standard stand, and Ronnie, scratching doesnt seem to be an issue because of the shallow angle of the pin.

 

For $40, I bought one to try out. Will update.

Is This issue is for both base R1 and R1M? I really don't want to buy the pitbull if there is another solution cheaper. I pickup my R1 next week but I'm glad I saw this thread I already had a set of standard stands ready to go for it from my 2012.

 

Yes a fork lift stand would be an issue with both R1 and R1M as they both have that same sensor. This is easily rectified by using a triple tree lift and the appropriate pin which I believe is 6s but I'm not 100% on the pin. Pit bull is by far my favorite.

Yes, you're missing something, he was referring to a front stand that goes under the fork leg where the R1 has a sensor. The recommendations have been to use a triple stand just like what you're using.
And, you have your warmers on backwards.

Seems to be cheaper than the pitbull. Quality is good. My used set came with ALL the pins too. Not sure if the new ones do.

 

Pitbull makes a hybrid stand that is both triple-tree and fork stand. Just sayin...

 

just buy any front triple tree stand that you like......

 

Proper for Pit is 8mm

The fork lift and triple tree are used in different circumstances. I don't really care what the race teams do. I really would like a fork lift solution which is why I brought it up.

Pitbull Pin size is a 8S for 8mm short pin.

 

The pit bull stand is by far the best I had I even got my dealer selling them now it's quick and easy can't knock it till you try it

If you are referring to Pit Bull pins, the R1 ('98-'01) is a #8 pin, the R1 ('02-'14) is a #8T pin, and the R1 ('15) a #8S pin. I have both the #8 and #8S and both will work on the '15 but the #8S does give you more room/clearance to insert the pin.

Just for general info, George Hoffman (the owner of Pitbull) sent me this new pin specifically for the 2015 R1. Very slight angle makes for a super sturdy fit. #36 (for those who cant read upside down :grin2:

They need to update the fitment chart, I ordered an #8S awhile ago because that's what was recommended. I do notice that the pin isn't snug in the hole, but it does work so I'm gonna stick with it for now.

 

The pin I use for my 08 r6 works on my r1m, so don't bother to buy a new pin
